Edit / Second Trip: I just wanted to start off with a big thank you to Michael, the manager, who reached out to assure us that our first experience was one that is few at far between and wanted to invite us back to have the right experience - and boy was it ever! He also made sure to check in with us throughout our evening.
From the moment we walked through the doors to the moment we headed home, we had a great time, great food and great drinks. Anyone we interacted with from the staff was incredible to us (including a staff member who was there in her off time, who helped my girlfriend figure out the sink!), especially our server Leila (I think) who was extremely friendly as well as knowledgeable. We love our Pinot Noirs and she helped us pick out an excellent bottle we had never tried before and it was delicious.
One more staff related point before I move on the the amazing food. Michael and his team really took the time to make this dinner special as well as it was an early celebration for my Girlfriends birthday and I wanted to do something special but not over the top and they provided us with a complimentary piccolo of bubbly!
This time around for food we were delighted to start with the crab cakes with basil aioli which was a great way to open our palette to start the night! Then we moved on to our mains (which this time around was PERFECTLY paced). Myself I had the 20z bone in Ribeye and boy did it ever not disappoint, they nailed a medium rare and the meat itself was so earthy and nutty and tender that every bite was enjoyable. My girlfrend went with the Steak Oscar which was a Top Sirloin than came with shrimp and scallops with a béarnaise sauce and she too, was left with nothing but good words to say!
After a beer / cocktail, glass of bubbly, a bottle of red wine and amazing meal we really weren't sure if we had room for dessert, but they had the perfect option for us to just tease our sweet tooth. They had a mini crème brûlée which was absolutely delicious.
All in all, an amazing night and I can't thank the staff at Chop enough for their excellent service.
Note: Our second trip was 100% a 5/5 experience but since google wont allow me to post a second review I'm going to leave it at a 4/5 as our first time was a 1.
First Trip: My girlfriend and I decided to switch things up and check out Chop to try something new. We made a reservation online without any issue but when we arrived the restaurant was packed. We arrived, said we had a reservation and then were asked by another staff member if we had a reservation and then were asked to wait outside. We waited roughly 10-15 minutes and ended up getting seated in the hotel lounge, which ended up being a relief as it seemed to be much quieter than the restaurant itself. When it came to ordering we had some issues there as well. I wanted to know what rotating tap they had from Big Spruce (one of our favorite breweries) and were told it was an "ale". It may sound a bit snobby but given that they have 4 different ales and a few other India Pale Ales I asked which one it was, to make sure it would be something I was interested in. Our server responded with "just an ale" rather than offering to go to the bar and double check. Following this our server spilled a bit of my girlfriends cocktail on our table and apologized however she didn't clean it up... At the end of our meal as well there were other drinks on our bill that did not belong to us. The food is a bit underwhelming as well, we both had the prime rib for our entrée and had escargot to start. Remember how I said we were sat in the lounge? Well the tables there are quite small for a dinner, we had just finished our app as they were outting our entrée on the table, which nornally would sound great however our app had only been on our table for 5 minutes and if I wasn't a fast eater there wouldn't have been enough room on the table. All in all, not one of our best dining experiences and for a place that looks like it prides itself on a great and "luxurious" experience, it was quite...
Read moreWhat a horrible way to celebrate our anniversary. We canceled our reservations at gio because we heard great things about chop. We expected fine dining for the prices on the menu. Upon arrival the hostess was friendly however we requested a relatively quiet table ( I understand you can’t control the noise of other patrons ) but we were sat in the back by the kitchen, right by a table of kids and some kind of bachelorette party. The noise was absolutely insane as well as in appropriate for this kind of restaurant… screaming at the top of their lungs “SHOTS” swearing, talking about “experiences” . It was absolutely awful. That being said we would of looked past that had the service and food been on point however they also seriously lacked. Our server was friendly however no one checked on us about our meals until we were almost done. My steak was supposed to be med rare and it was almost blue rare.i sat for maybe 10 mins and started eating again because I was so hungry. When they finally checked up on us ( wasn’t even our server it was a man) my husband said his was fine and I went to let him know about my steak and he was already gone. We waited so long between finishing our meal to ordering dessert, once dessert came again really disappointed, everything had a weird old fridge taste to it and my cappuccino was horrendous ( our server did notice at the end I didn’t drink it and took it off the bill without us asking ) No one checked up on us tho until we had sat there not eating for about 10-15 mins. This was our anniversary dinner so after we paid our server said she had a signed card and a free coupon for an appetizer for us and for us to just stay for a minute while she went to get it. We waited 20 minutes at our table half asleep after paying and finally just got up and left. While our server was friendly our expectations of the service, atmosphere and food were no where near met. We will never be back....
Read moreI ate all my three meals today at Chop Steakhouse as I was enjoying my first of ten days stay at the beautiful Sutton hotel.
During breakfast, I ordered a poached egg and found it to be mediocre. The hollandaise sauce was citrusy, and the overall taste did not appeal to me. Although I managed to finish half of the portion, it did not leave a lasting impression.
In the early evening, intrigued by the possibility of their steak being a specialty, I decided to give it a try. I was part of a group of three, and I ordered the ribeye steak cooked medium-well. Unfortunately, my steak was served well-done, almost burnt and dry. I couldn't bring myself to eat more than two bites. On a positive note, the fries accompanying the dish were enjoyable. My friends, who ordered the same beef rib cooked rare, rated their meals 7/10. However, we all noticed that the presentation of the dishes lacked finesse. Additionally, the side dish seemed bland, resembling hospital food without much flavor. Lastly, the crème brûlée, turned out to be quite heavy and not the best.
On a more positive note, I must commend the onion soup, as it was the highlight of the meal. The flavors were well-balanced, and the soup was satisfying.
I decided to give the room service dinner a try, and I must say, the salmon exceeded my son’s expectations with its freshness and delicious flavor. However, the Caesar salad has zero sauce, zero cheese, and no salt, and it appeared to be unprepared.
Considering my overall experience, I regret to say that I won't be returning or order room service from restaurant. I believe there is significant potential for improvement in terms of preparation, presentation, and flavor profiles.
Thank you for taking the time to read my feedback. I hope you find it helpful in your continuous efforts to enhance the dining experience at your...
