My 1st trip to Halifax. After completing our appointment, we decided on lunch and not at the regular fast food places....an Irish pub was the decision. After all, we were celebrating a successful appointment. Checked out on GPS the best and closest place to go. So, off to Durty Nelly's Irish Pub; my daughter, young grandson, and I. Our server #344 prioncious greeted us with a warm smile and a welcome to NS. (Loved the accent) He asked if we wanted to see a child's menu. We answered, "Thank you, but it is not necessary. My grandson eats like an adult." He had the Nelly BLT with side Caesar salad. Minus the cheese. (There was no issue from the kitchen to accomodate that request) There are a couple of TV screens to watch sports, but not so loud that we can't hear ourselves chatting. Not a long wait for food, and once it did arrive, attention was made to see if we needed anything else. I had the chicken wings with BBQ sauce and side of fries. My daughter, the butter chicken curry. (She asked for chili peppers as it was not spicy enough) He also came back to check if we were enjoying the food and if everything was OK. The experience was so pleasing that when it came time to pay the bill, he deserved a 20% tip. Next time we are in Halifax, we will definitely stop in and try something else.

A very authentic and lively place, at least in the evening. Lots of seating places inside and outside. There is a live music corner here too, but I have mixed feelings about it: it is very cool in itself, but because of the shouts of the visitors, it is simply impossible to sit inside during the performances - it is VERY-VERY loud... My wife and I ordered Roasted Ham and Shepherd's Pie. For the drink Alexander Citrus Blonde and Robot Diablo Mexican Lager beers. Everything was good. The pie was very hot, but quite tasty. The wife's Roasted Ham seemed a little small at first, but due to the good portion of tasty meat in it, this feeling quickly passed. So both dishes had a good proportion in size. After eating we decided to stay a little longer and ordered a few cocktails: Old fashioned, Honey Pot and The 3 Peat. I liked the taste of all three. The only thing I could find fault with is replacing a bunch of small ice cubes with one big cube/ball in Old Fashioned. The prices seem to be a little higher than expected, but they seem to be normal for such an order and place too, so it's up to your judging(70$/person).

Pretty average Irish Pub. We had apps and drinks on a Tuesday night, it wasn't terribly busy. Decent selection of beer. We had a table of 5 people, my husband and I ordered the garlic pretzel knots, blarney chips and cup of seafood chowder. Garlic pretzel knots were soft and fresh, the mustard was sweet and tangy, the beer cheese was ok. Blarney chips were delish and filling, they were a huge portion so we boxed up nearly half to go. Seafood chowder was good but arrived with no spoon so my husband had to wait a few min to flag down a staff member. Overall, the food was good but not great. It is a pub, afterall. Waitstaff was mediocre. We neatly stacked our dirty dishes but they were ignored even after the waitress came to our table multiple times. The final bills were mixed up with the couple we were with. They were only off by a few dollars but I found it odd because the waitress had just confirmed our orders moments before printing the bills... But I understand everyone has an off day.

First time at this public house. Went there with folk from work as it were. Not a big ‘bar guy,’ so not a lot of reference for me. Place was cozy, but very loud. Actually, I think it was our collective table that increased the decibel level to the point my Apple Watch thought it prudent to warn me that permanent hearing loss was but a round or two away. At some point a wee band appeared, two violinists (fiddlers?) and a guitarist. They played the most delightful music and I just stood and watched them. In fact, I could have stayed and listened to the song that they played (pretty sure it was the same song o’er and o’er) all night, but more bars were calling our little group, so we had to hightail it out of there. I cannot speak to any foodstuffs, as it was not the intent to eat at this time. I had a bottle of San Pellegrino and I have to say it was delightful. A splendid time was had by all, and I am sure once we left, the entire establishment sighed in sadness.

Reputedly, one of the most popular pubs in Halifax, especially Irish Pubs. It definitely gets busy so, expect long lineups. We were able to get in by coming a little earlier before the crowd showed up. At first, it was a quiet, nice ambiance. The staff was very attentive and, everything was going smoothly. We had an assortment of appetizers and entrees, and everything was good for pub fare. Unfortunately, as the crowd grew, things started to get hectic, louder music and people all over the place. The staff also started to become more demanding, like if you were to put your glass down for a minute they will come up to rush you into ordering more or leaving. We were a party of 5 and we were all eating and drinking so, it felt a little unnecessary.

I have been there a few times, but I always think this is a very average bar. Food is okay, not many choices during the happy hour tho. Today I had a awkward experience when I visited. We were sitting next to a narrow aisle (near the entrance), and a few people just sat in the middle of the corridor and chatted for a long time. I felt very crowded and uncomfortable because they were very close to us. The server was not great, and when we asked for the menu and drinks, she just threw them on the table without any words. In addition, when she checked us after the food arrived, she directly touched my plate while I was eating. Overall, the food and atmosphere were okay, not sure if it is worth going back.
