We went there because it is such a nice place and good vibes. But we went there on st Patrick weekend the place was full but we managed to get a table, but it was so full that two people had to sit with us which was fine we had fun talking. We went for a smoke and left a jacket on the table and two beers covered so as to show our waitress we were still coming back and even left a credit card with her. Now when we came the security checked all our ids and we were let in no trouble. We got done with our cigarettes and went to the door, a guy who was sitting next to our table just went in no trouble so we just got our ids out again and went to show it to the same security that checked it the first time, and said that we have a table inside. He claimed that he didn’t remember us and I informed him that he is the same person who checked our ids he even asked for a second form of id from my friend. He then went inside to ask a security who was not there when we first came in so of course when he asked him he didn’t remember us. He then came back and said that it is not his problem and that if we don’t have a STAMP we can get in, my friend then said no one even told us that we need a stamp and all the times we have been here they have never given us a stamp. He said and I quote: YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR IT. Now in what place do you have to ask for a stamp, how would we know it is needed if none of the people who WORK THERE hadn’t informed us. Then my friend asked to get her jacket and credit card. She went inside and there were many people sitting at OUR table and on her jacket and I don’t even know where our FULL beers went. She got her jacket and credit card, but it was a really bad experience which is unfortunate because it is a really nice place to hangout with friends. (IT WAS OUR SECOND TIME GOING FOR A SMOKE AND WE WENT BACK IN NO PROBLEM BUT THE SECOND TIME THE SECURITY CLAIMED HE DOES NOT REMEMBER USAND IT WAS THE SAME PERSON WHO LET US IN...
Read moreTonight I was at durty Nellys. Before this incident occurred, this was my favourite spot in downtown Halifax. Me and my best friend arrived at about 10pm, everything was fun! We met a lot of great people, the drinks were great, etc. As the night continued, I had a few drinks and my friend was completely sober, we noticed a man continuously staring and making strange faces towards me, we shrugged it off . Further into the night we noticed him again making inappropriate gestures towards me repeatedly. It made me uncomfortable, as it would anyone. I then continued to call him a creep and told him to leave me alone, he was ruining my night. Turns out this man works at Durty Nellys but was off shift for the night. After I told him to leave me alone, me and my friend continued socializing and enjoying our time. A few minutes later, the man who was harassing me and a women who also works at the pub approached us. They confronted us about what I had said, in a very rude way. The man said "if I was looking at anybody it wouldn't be you". And the women was defending the man saying that he was high and drunk and a good guy, while making me feel intimidated and completely not validating my feelings . I can not believe that these people were employed there. I felt extremely uncomfortable and upset. The man was a skinny Irish man in his 30's or 40's and the women was a blonde about the same age. It's a shame but I will not be returning and I will be telling everyone I know about the situation and encouraging them to not return as well.

Read moreI think we went on the wrong day. A full star is added for our amazing server. Comming from a culinary background, she was absoluty amazing. Attentive to everyone, super friendly and professional.
The food was a 2 star experiance, but I think we hit the resturant on the wrong day (4pm on a hot Sunday). I could tell that the food infront of us was good quality, but most of it was not made recently.
Worst was the wings. The dryest, most shrunken and worst wings I have ever been served. I'm suprised they let them out of the kitchen. The picture I included does not has not been bitten, its just so old and dry that it is disintegrating. I dont think they where cooked today. The sauses where great and full of flavor.
The fish in the fish and chips was very good, however it was cold and the batter was undercooked. Did not end up finishing the one peice fish. Great fries and tartar sauce. The coleslaw was dry for my prefernce, but fresh.
Bangers and mash was the highlight, although the sausages where served cool, not warm. They had great spicing, the mash, gravy and topping all complimented eachother. This was the only dish that seemed to be made fresh.
If I where to guess, I would say that like many restaurants right now, they kitchen is probably horrifically understaffed. It took about 40 minutes to get the food as well, but our server kept checking in and making surr we where happy and our glasses where full.
Atmosphere is a classic Nova Scotia Irish pub with good music and great patios. I think on another day this may...
