Had heard a lot of positive feedback re this venue so had high expectations. Sadly our first visit was a negative experience.

We were with a group and were chatting. The band's sound person approached our group and let us know we were being too loud. Fair enough except there were two other groups of "regulars" who just as loud as we were.

All of that said if that was the end of things no issue.

What bothered me was the sound man hadn't even made it back to his sound board when we were approached by a second staff member. I would have thought we would have the opportunity to comply with the initial request before being repremanded a second time.

All the while the other regulars were freely chatting without reproach. Up to management to decide how they want to run their establishment but I can tell you that I certainly didn't feel welcome

All to say I don't think I will be back and I certainly won't...

Went to see The Stanfields play on May 12 2023 and it was my very first time there. I absolutely love the atmosphere! The staff was so happy and accommodating, and our waiter was the sweetest. I can’t say enough good things about this place! The sound is amazing and it has an extremely intimate feel - even though it is quite large. The food is sooooo great, I mean, what can I say, the menu is small and eclectic, but everything on it looks fabulous! I had a hard time choosing, but finally decided on the crispy chicken sandwich. It was YUM!! I finished the night with the orange crème brûlée and a cappuccino. Had a couple of great drinks in between. Lucky for you, I have included some photos for your viewing pleasure! I will be back for sure. Thank you so much to the Carlton for such a great night and introduction to your wonderful...

Historic Halifax dining and live music venue. Under new ownership, with recent renovations and a great new chef and menus have uplifted this Halifax landmark. Check their live music programming for which it is commonly known. But definitely check out their new menus for dinner, lunch, and brunch (Saturdays and Sundays). Brunch recommendations: Scotch eggs, omelette and the banana bread french toast are outstanding. The housemade yogurt is also shockingly good! Lots of changes, keep an eye on this spot. And they just opened the summer patio! Great spot for an afterwork drink, a business lunch, informal or romantic dinner, a concert. They also have a private...

Small place but oh the sound in here is amazing. We came to listen to Tara Breen and her crew from Ireland. They were delightful. The show started at 7 so we got there for 6 which I recommend so u can get a good seat. We are as well and the food was great. The Carlton burger was so yummy; upgrade ur fries to the Carlton frites!! I highly recommend. My sister had the croquettes and they were ok. If I’m ever back in Nova Scotia, I’ll be back at the Carlton!

We managed to catch the RustaGumbo show. I think there was so much energy on the stage that could light the whole city. They are 10 people band but the synergy was perfect. Awesome music and great show. The food was good as well. One suggestion is adding a few simple pasta dishes to the main course menu would expand the range for hungry people. Overall we had fun and that is what’s important. Well done.
