Went in tonight with a larger party size 8-10. Our reservation was for 9:30 we showed up a little early at 9:15 and we were sat right away which was good. We placed our drink orders within 10 mins of sitting down and the cocktails came out relatively fast considering our group size. After most of us were finished our first drinks is where service became spotty. She only asked 3 of us if we wanted another round which we agreed to and only the 3 of us places another drink order. 15-20 mins later our drinks came out. I’m a bartender myself that has worked in the industry for years so I was doing my best to be gracious but 15 mins for 3 drinks old fashioned, and 2 high balls is way too long. Our drinks finally came out and then each person basically got to place their order 1 by 1. Our waitress asked if 1 person wanted another one they agreed and she would leave until the drink was ready and then come back and ask someone else. We placed our orders for entrees at around 9:40 and they didn’t come out until 10:30. So in total from 9:15-10:30 we had 2 rounds of drinks and 1 entree each ordered. A couple people at the table weren’t asked even once if they wanted another drink and we were also missing a water glass for half the service. Again I understand mistakes happen, but as a bartender/server I would approach the table and apologize for my mistake or for the long wait times. Not once was anything communicated to our table. Finally our first entree came out it was an allergy and it sat on the table for about 10 mins until the rest of our food finally arrived. By then the dish was cold, and again no apology for the wait or anything. All of our food came out no mistakes and the taste was good all around. The steaks were flavourful but very chewy. We ended up leaving the restaurant at 11:15 total service time was 2 hours we got 2-3 rounds of drinks total and 1 order of entrees.
I wouldn’t say don’t go to cactus club as the environment right around the water is great. But don’t expect a whole lot from the service team. Our waitress was having a hard time making conversation and seemed almost a little stoned as everything that we had asked for or she was doing had a long delay/pause when answering or taking orders. Honestly super disappointed I won’t be bringing a large party back. Again I usually have grace for these kind of things but nothing was communicated 3 drinks took way too long and we had a dish brought out way too early. Where I work if I’m serving and I notice a table might be frustrated with the service the first thing I do is communicate to my manager about what’s going on and to see what we can do for them. I’m not one to ever ask for free food. It just would have been nice to know our table was being properly taken care of. I genuinely wished a manager would ah e come over and checked in. As well as maybe been more on top of bill times for food/drinks. 2 hours at a restaurant should be a choice and not an experience where you’re...
Read moreA very upscale and popular restaurant right in the middle of downtown Kelowna. Am visiting for the second time after three years ( my son being here however has frequented it all these years) and am disappointed to note that the service has gone down. After a wk. Ahead reservation for my son’s graduation dinner, we as a party of six had to wait for 25 mins. which we did not mind spending chatting with our guests but when we saw all others who arrived later go ahead of us, we could not help ourselves asking and guess what- to our surprise and disappointment, we were only then informed that in the absence of the availability of a low table near our preferred bar area, they intended to make us wait until after 9:30 pm for a 7:45 pm reservation! Wow!!! Upon learning, we asked our options and when given, we obviously settled for the high table in the same area BUT- only upon asking- else we would have waited in futility and courtesy for the next one hour and 45 minutes if you please ! Why on earth will you not keep the table free if I’ve already reserved it a wk ago??? And why will you not bother to reply and keep me waiting for that long without even offering another option ? Unfair practice. The food lived upto its past standards though however the service left each table longing for more as people waited for cutlery, after the dishes arrived or for drinks of some guests while that of few others on the same party would arrive. No one could begin as all guests courteously waited for the complete drink order of the table to arrive which happened after good ten minutes gap or so. Was evident they let in more guests than they could handle on a Saturday evening. We had 8/9 people sitting at each low table around us - the same table for which we were refused for six despite a reservation. Did not appreciate the seclusion. Don’t think want to come back again for the treatment of me...
Read moreI wanted to share a once in a lifetime experience I had at the Saskatoon location! I have been a client of Cactus club since they opened the doors in Kelowna and I take my family and clients to the Kelowna locations almost weekly. The staff have always been amazing and the food great but nothing like the experience I had in Saskatoon.
No one at the Saskatoon location, even knew who I was or that I was a solid client of Cactus Kelowna. I was fortunate enough to meet Paul B who was shadowing Zack C on his first day ever serving at Cactus. We had a great rapport and I mentioned I was building a new company in Saskatoon. Lots of entertaining banter was had going back and forth with Paul and Zack.
When it came time to pay the bill I grabbed it for the table and was presented the folder by Paul B. Who promptly announced after telling Zack B the store manager what I was building in Saskatoon and the jobs it was going to create Zack B had comped the entire bill.
They did it as a way to welcome us to the city and the Cactus Saskatoon location I was told. I almost fell out of the booth! I have never been treated that way in my life. My team called it a sign that building the business in Saskatoon was the right move for our company. I couldn’t agree more.
My staff has been directed to always support Cactus, Paul and the Zacks when we’re in town. Our company will add 50 plus jobs all high paying in the Community when we open the doors in the resource sector.
It wasn’t the free lunch that made this experience world class it was the fact they did for the entire community of Saskatoon as a way to welcome us and I’m telling you it worked. I was there to close the deal and confirm if Saskatoon was the right fit. I’m happy to say we made the right decision and will be building the facilities and are slated to open in next...
