Boulangerie Moderne is superbly situated in the food court of Complexe Desjardins—a prime location that makes it effortless to incorporate a delicious meal into a busy day. Its setting is modern and inviting, offering an ideal spot to refuel amid the bustle of downtown Montreal.
The menu is a celebration of freshly prepared sandwiches, each crafted with an evident attention to detail. Every bite bursts with vibrant, quality ingredients that transform a simple sandwich into a culinary delight. The flavors are balanced beautifully, making each option a worthy choice for a satisfying lunch or snack.
A true highlight of the establishment is the scones. The raspberry and white chocolate scone, in particular, is exceptional—its tender crumb paired with a subtly crisp exterior creates a texture that is both comforting and refined. The fusion of tangy raspberry with smooth white chocolate provides a sophisticated twist on a classic treat.
Service at the establishment consistently feels warm and efficient. Even when the environment is lively and busy, the staff manage to maintain a level of attentiveness that ensures a pleasant dining experience. The approach to customer care is evident in the prompt, friendly interactions that enhance every visit.
One notable consideration is the pricing. The cost tends to lean towards the higher side, especially when measured against the portion sizes offered. While this aspect might give pause, the exceptional quality of both the sandwiches and pastries, coupled with the convenience of the location, makes the...
Read moreThe service was unacceptable. My wife has a slight accent (by slight, I mean she works in French at a big corporation, seldom has to repeat because people understand her). I was born here and French is my first language. Every item she ordered was received by a frown and a “quoi? Un quoi?”, followed by “ahh un chocolat chaud, tu veux dire un cho-co-lat chaud”. “Tu veux ça? Ça s’appelle un croi-ssant”. “Un macaron beige? C’est beige ça?” with a grin. That’s when I decided that it was enough, I replied “c’est quelle couleur d’après toi alors?”. Her attitude changed and became nicer to us.
While preparing the drinks, she would take her time and laugh and gossip with another worker, laughing out loud with the attitude of those mean high school kids (they probably in their 20s though).
The ironic part is that they were not native French speakers. They all speak their native tongue (don’t want to specify which as it’s irrelevant to their attitude).
Can’t believe this attitude in Montreal in 2024. It saddens me. Please do better Boulangerie Moderne. Talk to your workers about respect and always try to serve people as you would to your close relative that dont speak perfect French but are...

⭐️MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR RECEIPT⭐️
During my trip to Montreal, I visited this place several times because the food was so delicious. But on my last visit I experienced a really terrible service. Be sure to get your receipt when you visit here. If you don't get a receipt, you won't know what you paid for. I ordered two Americanos and paid for $15.94 including tip. While paying, I asked for a receipt because I thought it was a bit too much for two Americanos. When I checked the receipt, I got charged for 2 mochas instead of Americano. If I didn’t take my receipt, I wouldn’t know. The most insane part was this employee attitude. When I ask for the receipt, she took kinda long to give me my receipt(At this point, I was sure she is overcharged me on purpose). I asked her about her mistake, she got mad at me instead of apologizes or explain about the mistake. The place service is really unprofessional. It is doubtful that such a scammer can even work here.
*You should know that preparing delicious food is not everything, but a minimum of service must be provided for...
