Lakafe – Vietnamese Coffee, Cloudy Matcha & Cozy Vibes

Let’s talk caffeine and comfort—because Lakafe delivers both in one of the cutest, most photogenic little cafés on Boulevard Saint-Laurent.

I stopped by after hearing whispers about their Vietnamese-style drinks, and honestly? This place makes you want to cancel your afternoon plans just to sip slowly and daydream.

Here’s what I tried:

Vietnamese Coffee – The barista told me this packs the punch of four shots of espresso (yes, four!), and they weren’t kidding. It’s strong, sweet, and smooth—the kind of drink that wakes you up and gives you a warm, fuzzy hug. The bold coffee flavor is beautifully mellowed by that classic condensed milk sweetness. If you like your caffeine kick with a little sweetness, this one’s for you.

Strawberry Matcha ($7.50) – Aesthetically? A 10/10. Taste-wise? A little too milky for me. I wanted more strawberry oomph to balance the creaminess. That said, it’s a super approachable option if you’re new to matcha. Sweet, soft, and almost dessert-like with that gorgeous green-to-pink gradient.

Coconut Matcha Cloud ($7.50) – My clear favorite. It literally tastes like a coconut matcha cookie, in the best way. Light, foamy, and just the right amount of coconut flavor without overpowering the matcha. The “cloud” on top is soft and dreamy—this one’s refreshing and cozy. I’d come back just for this.

The space itself? Cozy, calm, and thoughtfully minimal. Think lush plants, warm wood accents , and marble detailing that make the whole place feel both polished and inviting. It has that quiet magic where time feels like it moves a little slower. Whether you’re solo-working, journaling, or catching up with a friend, it’s the kind of café that welcomes you to stay awhile.

Bonus: they also serve onigirazu (Japanese-style rice sandwiches) and croffles (croissant-waffle hybrids), which I’ve got my eye on for next time. Savory or sweet, they’ve got you covered.

Foxy Tip: Matcha fans—run, don’t walk, to the Coconut Cloud. It’s a vibe.

The cutest cafe just dropped into the neighbourhood! The food menu currently focuses on onigirirazu (aka a sushi sandwich) which is FILLED with fresh ingredients and also super generous. The staff is super warm and helpful, don’t be afraid to ask them for a recommendation.

The Vietnamese egg coffee is also to die for (my photo isn’t amazing but whatever, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.) I wasn’t going to order it at first, but got convinced into a Sunday morning treat. Best idea. They make the egg foam in house and the coffee beans are from Vietnam!

This is an amazing lunch spot. Defo give them a warm welcome to the...

This place is absolutely delicious! Their onigiris are all so good! The spicy shrimp and Unagi ones are my favourites, so I often split half-half with my partner so we get to eat both. So excited for it that I bit into it before taking a photo haha

The portions are SUPER generous, and there’s so much delicious filling in them. So so good! Their drinks are also delicious. I especially love their salted caramel coffee.

Me and my coworkers are all a bit obsessed with this place; we definitely will keep...
