This place was super cute and incredibly aesthetic. The atmosphere was probably the best I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant—everywhere you looked, there was something fascinating, whether it was a piece of artwork or a unique decoration. It really added to the ambiance.
The service was good.
Food Review: I want to go into detail about everything I tried and rate each dish:
Grilled Cheese – 2/5 Pretty boring—nothing special. I didn’t like the flavor or the bread (which had pistachios and walnuts). It just wasn’t good. I could easily make a better one at home. Shepherd’s Pie – 4/5 It was amazing! The only thing I would change is adding some corn for a bit of freshness, since there was a lot of meat and it felt really dense. Ideally, it would have equal layers of corn, mashed potatoes, and beef. Deviled Egg – N/A I don’t like eggs like that, so I can’t really judge it. But I did like the Parmesan crisp on top. BLT Chicken Sandwich – 2/5 Super average. It lacked flavor—literally just tasted like chicken, lettuce, mayo, and mustard on bread. I could make this in two minutes at home. If I’m paying $54 for a meal, I want something more intricate, something that excites my taste buds. Potato Artichoke Luca with Salmon Mousse – 5/5 This was hands down my favorite of all the savory items. I’m not even a fan of salmon or fish in general, but it was amazing. I would eat 100 of these. Absolutely a 10/10.
Scones & Desserts: Scones – 3/5 A little dry. I’ve had better scones that I made at home or from places like Milk. They needed more moisture. The jam, however, was incredible—I literally finished it with a spoon. The cream wasn’t my thing, but that’s just personal preference. Macaron – 2/5 This one was disappointing. I thought it was raspberry white chocolate (which is a great flavor combo), but it tasted like mint. The texture was good, though. Pistachio Cake – 1/5 Not for me. I don’t like almond fondant or almond paste, and the pistachio flavor just wasn’t it. Chocolate Mousse – 1/5 Did not like it at all. The popcorn on top also felt random and unnecessary.
Overall Experience: Despite some of the food being hit or miss, I’m really happy I went. The experience was worth it—it was a nice way to spend a cute girls’ brunch. I also appreciated the little touches, like them taking your coat when you arrive. Plus, the fact that it was so busy made me feel like I had chosen a great spot—clearly, everyone wants...
Read moreThis high tea place is incredible and cozy for anyone looking for a fun English afternoon! We ordered the Classic high tea stack, that came with 3 layers, one of more savoury lunch items, one of scones, and one of desserts! It also came with infinite tea of choice! (55$)
The first layer of savoury was ok. Noteable favourites being the potato pancake with beef ontop that was tender and crispy, the deviled egg that was heavy but creamy and had a delicious consistency, and the grilled pesto sandwich that was light and tangy! The rest of the options where ok, but more or less left untouched.
The second layer had 2 scones aswell as a homemade strawberry jam and a light cream! One scone was just regular and was dense and delicious, but the second was chamomile and vanilla flavoured which was INCREDIBLE! If i could have a whole basket of it i would.
The final layer contained 4 desserts! A chocolate mouse which was the perfect portion, and was very light and the right amount of dark chocolate (even had a dalgona peice ontop!). Aswell as a raspberry cake, me and my friend persenally did NOT like the cake as its a very specific sort of almond raspberry blend, I’m sure some people like it but it was quite over powering and perfumey. Another was a tiny apple tart bite, it was light and the cream was fluffy and tasted, but slightly disappointing due to the lack of apple taste. If it had more of an apple concentration inside it would really taste better. Best for last was the seasonal pumpkin macaron, it was light and perfectly encapsulates the pumpkin flavour and spices of autumn.
The teas were delicious and me and my friend got to have multiple different types, each accurately fitting their descriptions. Noteable favorite being the Sugar Shack, a black tea with a maple after taste and scent!
Overall, we rate our experience here a 8.5/10! Besides the food, the services was incredible and the building is just super beautiful and well decorated. Perfect for a friend meet up, mother daughter date, and an insta photo shoot! Make sure to come on...
Read moreWe had a bit of a disappointing/strange experience here. We made reservations for afternoon tea 3 weeks in advance, we knew it was a set menu but the menu states to advise them of allergies/dietary restrictions. Between the two of us, my friend and I had some restrictions and that’s why we wrote them all out clearly when we made the reservation, 3 weeks in advance. No one contacted us about it so we assumed it would be ok and drove the 2.5 hours to come here for a day trip.
When we arrived the hostess acknowledged that they had received our list of restrictions. Once our server came though she was very frazzled and seemed overwhelmed when reviewing them, and we had to go over everything again. She seemed very nervous about being able to accommodate them and once she left, someone from the kitchen came and told us that with our list of allergies, there was nothing at all she could make us from the savoury foods. We spoke to her some more and re-clarified things (nothing that we hadn’t already told the server or written down when we first made the reservation) and she was ultimately able to accommodate everything.
The food that we were served was all good and we have no complaints about that, the disorganization and the attitude of the staff regarding the food restrictions is what ultimately made the experience quite uncomfortable. Having given them plenty of notice, I would have expected them to just call and tell us if this was something they were unable to accommodate rather than making us feel like we were surprising them and burdening them, particularly when they were capable of making the...
