Ordering through Uber Eats albeit at 3:00 in the morning, however, the owner called me and informed me that they’ve ran out of Lasagne, which is fine.
Then he proceed to insult me by saying I’m making trouble for him by ordering food he doesn’t have, which is funny because I’m ordering it through the Uber Eats menu and somehow I’d know he’s ran out of Lasagne.
I asked him nicely that if he can cancel the order on his side because this is not my active decision, rather, the restaurant‘s responsibility, as I’m also aware that if I cancel the order myself, the Uber Eats’ system is going to charge me a fair portion of the sum ($31/$35 in total except the delivery fee).
He firmly refused, saying he does not cancel order, and I have to, I tried explaining that is the restaurant’s responsibility, he refused several times again. At this point, I’m fed up with his attitude and I’m honestly questioning if he’s doing it on purpose thinking he can get me to cancel the order so he can get the charge without actually providing the service (aka, fraud). I don’t normally like to associate stereotypes with individual, but his strong Indian accent is definitely not helping.
So I hung up, and reached out to Uber Eats’ customer service, and was lucky enough to resolve the issue in its intended way. I don’t know how many times the restaurant has pulled this trick, although I’m seriously doubting their integrity I still don’t think they did that on purpose albeit it being really fishy during the phone call.
After all this experience just proved to me that the restaurant has incompetent owner and leadership, and not at all...
Read moreThis place stays in business because they do exactly what you hope a late night pizza place does, and then they exceed your expectations. I was helped by a guy named Mahi. Mahi was so polite that I felt humbled by him helping me, but, you know what? It doesn't matter if people like Mahi are polite. Mahi doesn't get paid enough to be polite. People write Google reviews to praise the politeness of people like Mahi, but that's not what's important. I'm writing this review because Mahi and the staff working with him seem to be nice people, and the food is good. Everyone at this place is doing their job and, for that, they deserve a 5-star review. Don't tell your employees to put on a happy face or bend over for customers. None of that matters. The people who eat here are in the working class, just like the employees. Mahi and everyone working with him deserve a raise for being nice people who do their jobs well. They also gave me a sample of the pakora, and I liked it, so I bought 10. It's worth noting that this place is selling 2 pakoras for $1. That's one single dollar for two pakoras. Please, buy your late night food from this place. I would also like to point out that no one told me what to write for this review. Mahi told me that, if I like the restaurant, it would be nice if I write a review. That was the only guidance...
Read moreThe only acceptable part of my experience with Pizza Saint Laurent was the mediocre food. The order arrived late; the delivery driver rang the doorbell instead of calling, ignoring my request; and most awkwardly, passively demanded an extra tip on top of what I had already paid. First, he lied by saying that the tip had to be paid in cash, when I had paid everything by card. When I pointed that out, he argued that the tip I paid wasn't enough to cover even the gas. Considering the restaurant is less than 1 mile away, at 2AM with no traffic, that's a blatant lie unless gas costs $10 per gallon and you drive a Mercedes. It doesn't help that I spent the last of my cash on a tip.
I'm a happy tipper and regularly give more than 20% unless it's a horrible experience; for that, I may tip as little as 15%, not less. For this order, Just Eat suggested 10%, which I foolishly thought would be enough for a hassle-free, quick delivery.
The driver only left when he thought he convinced me to tip more on my next order. Considering that I'm a tourist, and that I'll likely never be back as well as order from here, I agreed to do so.
Driver: it sounds like you are underpaid. Argue with your boss for better wages,...
