My kids went in wanting ice cream but left loving gelato.
We were in Niagara Falls for a family vacation and looking for an ice cream place that had vegan options for one of my kids and wife. Gelato di Carlotta came up as an option and we decided to try it since it was near our hotel. The children were less than thrilled as they wanted Ice Cream, but I tried to explain that gelato was just the same as ice cream, just Italian. I had no idea how wrong I was.
When we arrived, the two young ladies behind the counter were so helpful and friendly, and confirmed that they not only had a vegan option, but that they had SEVERAL vegan options. Happy wife: check. Happy daughter #2: check! Now for the picky one.
She wanted mint chocolate chip ice cream, and they had a mint chocolate chip gelato. The young lady behind the counter upped the ante time and time again for my daughter by asking if she wanted sprinkles (big smile), would she like a pink spoon (eyes go wide), would she like a cookie in it (emphatic nodding). She hands my daughter her hand crafted gelato, and you would have been hard pressed to find a happier child in all of Canada.
The gelato was so good and so creamy that one of our friends who was with us finished hers and went back up for more after trying a bite of her daughter’s strawberry gelato.
Il Gelato di Carlotta absolutely made our night and and won us over to Team Gelato. So in case you are in the area and in search of ice cream, stop now, look no further. You want GELATO from this great place. The staff is amazing and the gelato is fantastic. Try it. You won’t be...
Read moreA little slice of Italy – exceptional quality and taste! 🇮🇹🍦
We recently visited this gelateria and were absolutely delighted. From the warm atmosphere to the outstanding flavors, everything was just perfect!
Here’s what we tried: • Chai Latte: Rich, aromatic, and perfectly spiced – warming and comforting. • Vanilla Milkshake: Thick, creamy, and packed with natural vanilla flavor – just the way a real milkshake should be. • Salted Caramel Gelato: Incredibly smooth and balanced with just the right amount of saltiness. Real caramel flavor, not overly sweet. • Bombolone filled with Pistachio Cream: A true showstopper! Light, fluffy dough with a luscious pistachio filling that tasted like it came straight from Sicily.
What truly sets this place apart is the outstanding quality of the ingredients – and they’re proud to show it:
✅ Fresh milk and cream ✅ Purified water for their sorbets ✅ Premium Italian ingredients, including pistachios from Bronte and hazelnuts from Piemonte ✅ Fresh fruits sourced locally whenever possible (like Alphonso mangoes from Bombay) ✅ Only natural sugars – raw cane and grape sugar
And just as important, what they leave out:
❌ No artificial colors or flavors ❌ No man-made aroma replicators ❌ No hydrogenated oils or vegetable fats ❌ No emulsifiers or preservatives
Bottom line: This is more than just a gelateria – it’s a celebration of authentic Italian craftsmanship. If you’re looking for real gelato made with love and top-tier ingredients, this is the place to go. Highly...
Read moreSat 8pm first visit, as I shared with the 2 guys working there. He asked if I wanted toppings, with some obvious confusion I said “sure” and pointed to a few. Went to pay and noticed the added charge. I had no idea there was an extra charge and in that case said I’d rather not have the extra toppings. They told me they wouldn’t remove the toppings then condescendingly pointed out there are “mannnnny” signs everywhere. I asked where, he smugly pointed to a sign they said “toppings”…. Then realizing it didn’t say ANYTHING about a cost he then pointed to one other 2 inch sign buried amongst other signage stating a cost. I let him know I didn’t see that and I wasn’t looking to spend extra and I’d rather have the toppings removed. He said no, was clearly annoyed (which tells me he has this issue a lot… so maybe tell your customers up front about the extra charge and avoid this). Anyway he refused to discount or removed them, he complained that it’s melting… so with the humility of it all I said as a first time experience I’d rather not. His response? “We would be glad not to have you back”. Rude. He’d rather egotistically throw away the gelato than do what’s right and offer a positive customer experience by reducing the charge or remove the toppings? End result we went across to Craig’s cookies instead. Highly recommend the cookie place, they were fantastic and the lady working at Craig’s cookies was so lovely, highly recommend going to Craig’s instead and not support a...
