I recently visited Bar Barista and I have to say, it was one of the best bar experiences I've ever had! The head mixologist, Blair, is truly a master of his craft. His creativity and unique flair for making mixed drinks that I've never had before truly impressed me.
Blair's use of homemade infusions like 'Japanese whiskey marinated in coconut', 'Ghost pepper Mezcal' and 'Pistaccio bourbon' added a level of depth and complexity to his drinks that was truly exceptional. The dehydrated fruits and vegetables, which are locally sourced, made for the perfect garnish and added another layer of flavor to the drinks.
What really impressed me about Bar Barista was their attention to detail. Everything is made on site, from their hand-made ice cubes formed by directional freezing, to the carefully curated cocktail menu. It's clear that Blair and the team take pride in their craft and go above and beyond to create a truly exceptional bar experience.
What started off as an unplanned visit to Niagara Falls turned into an unexpected highlight of my trip, all thanks to Bar Barista. I highly recommend this bar to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience. I will definitely be making the trip back to Bar Barista the next time I'm...
Read moreGo for the atmosphere, (5**) what a beautifully designed restaurant. The food and drinks did not meet our expectations however. (3.5) We went for a late night dinner/snack. We ordered Caesars, our favourite drink, and they were undrinkable. After inquiring what happened, we found that they didn’t fully mix the drink at the bar and just used Caesar pre-bottled mix. What the h? Isn’t this a cocktail bar?? So we tried two other speciality cocktails on the menu and they were also kinda meh. Maybe they were too ‘special’ and ‘highly complex’ for us to appreciate. While we were sitting there, we saw some other people order a cocktail which got left behind on the table too. The food was decent, pate was really good, local cheese platter was good, albeit the breads were just something I would get from the supermarket. Cheapest option of something appearing to be special. I mean I get it, they don’t have to worry about return customers in a tourist town and making the most money is the goal, but still. Make having the best food and drinks the goal and more people will come no? I will try going for coffee and croissants next time I’m in Niagara, as the place itself is irresistible and worth...
Read moreWe were excited for our UK visitors to experience breakfast here, something my wife and I have enjoyed more than once. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. What has happened? We ordered the scone with mascarpone cheese and preserves. Where we have had a choice in the past, this time we were only given marmalade. Is it just us, or is this a strange choice? Marmalade is an acquired taste, and not to everyone's liking. Combined with the cheese it is even stranger. I find marmalade to my liking, but even I found this combination bizarre. When my wife asked for an alternative, the server came back a few minutes later with strawberry. My wife was hoping for raspberry, but there was none. She then requested butter which was another "special" request (with scones?). The only tea available was Earl Grey. The Brits in our party were not impressed and ordered hot chocolate in protest. It is worth noting that the tea arrived some ten minutes after the food. Considering how much we have enjoyed dining here in the past, I am afraid it is no longer on our list of things to do while...
