On Friday August 28th 2020 at approximately 10:15pm myself and 9 other friends had gone for dinner at this establishment. This was all of our first times here. I had pre called and booked a table for us, and was advised the maximum number at a table was 6, so I let the hostess know that we could do two tables of 5.
When arriving the tables were set up in groups of 6 therefore there were empty seats leftover. Dinner itself was fine for me, but one of my friends had gotten what we can only assume to be food poisoning, and another one had ordered a drink that tasted as though just syrup was poured into it and had asked for a different one. Instead of immediately trying to resolve the situation by asking what else she wanted the waitress instantly said that they would not be able to refund her to drink, this only led us to believe that they assumed we were just trying to get something for free. Instead of asking what else she wanted the waitress approached her saying “they needed to troubleshoot to find a solution”, we all found this very degrading.
The female restrooms were a disaster, with only two toilets working and the rest clogged with urine and toilet paper. This shows enough that COVID guidelines were not followed as nothing was being maintained or cleaned.
The rest of the meal was fine, until the bills came out. Each bill was wrong, and the waitress had mixed up everyone’s food. After personally going through each bill with her and writing on the receipts what was supposed to be where, she went back to fix them, and returned and they were still very much incorrect. When asked to fix it again she responded “can you guys not e transfer each other what is wrong on the bills it’s technology we have now a days”, astonished at the response we all just asked her to fix them, and she let us know a manager was needed in order to do that. The bills were written down for her, punched in incorrectly twice, and she was telling us to fix it ourselves. What kind of service is this?
Finally looking at the bills there was a group service charge and group gratuity charge already applied to each bill which we were not made aware of. A group service charge of $15.94 was what my personal bill had stated. When questioned about it she let me know tables 6 or more automatically have it applied. If this is the case, it is absolutely insane to charge someone an extra $15.00 for bringing more service into the restaurant, and again was not something we were made aware of.
At the end of the night I had gotten: chicken fingers and fries, nachos, tranquil waters, mango margarita, and a Long Island ice tea and walked out with a $126.00 bill. And a slap in the face from the waitress. This is absolutely insane!!!
I would love to speak to someone directly about this situation, as the aggression and lack of communication from the restaurant was nothing I have ever...
Read moreI would give Margaritaville Niagara Falls a zero rating if it was possible. I stopped in here during a trip in May and ordered a meal that I've had at other Margaritaville's (this is a chain) - the Southwest Chicken Salad with no peppers, no avocado, and ranch instead of vinaigrette dressing - same way I always order it (waitress said it was ok to swap dressing). It was the worst salad I've ever had. It had big chunks of inedible salad root/core which should never be in a salad - started tossing them on the bread dish and then there were more at the bottom of the bowl (see the pictures). I mentioned it to both the guy and girl that were serving my table (why two people serving - who knows - it was very confusing - guy takes my drink order - girl brings it and takes my dinner order - guy brings my dinner - girl brings the check). When I got my receipt I noticed I was charged an extra $2 for ranch dressing. TWO DOLLARS! I asked to have that removed as I was told it was ok to swap out dressings when I ordered and nobody mentioned and extra $2 charge - I would have walked out when ordering if I was told that. At first she didn't want to remove it saying it was an "upcharge", then she said she'd go "talk to her manager". Keep in mind this was for a salad that was absolutely horrible. She came back and said the $2 was removed, slammed the portable credit card on the table and left. I don't know why she thought I would know what buttons I had to push to process the card, so I went to the bar where she and they guy were standing (there were very few customers in the place, no surprise in hindsight). By that point I was pretty upset. The girl waitress was pretty snotty and said oh most people don't want her to watch the tipping (yeah but most staff at other restaurants wait at the table so they can push the right buttons needed to fully process the transaction). At that point I said I wasn't going to tip anyway. Then after processing the transaction she was even more snotty and said "oh I see you are from the States so you'll never have to come back here again". Asked her how would she know how often I was in Niagara Falls and she went silent. I was so upset at that point I didn't notice until getting back to my hotel room that they had added an extra 6% "E.A.P.F. fee" to my tab, in addition to the 14% HST Tax. I called to inquire what that was and was told it was "to insure good service" - which I didn't get - and that everyone does it in that area (no they don't, I don't have it on any other receipt). So essentially they are including a tip and not disclosing it. So in my opinion they owe me the 6% tip I didn't want to pay, oh and also they owe me what what they saved by me NOT getting peppers or avocado on my salad! Don't eat here, the salads at the Table Rock Visitor Center Market looked way better and weren't...
Read moreI hadn't been to Margaritaville in years and when my best friend suggested it before our concert on Friday night I was super excited about the idea. Unfortunately our experience was super disappointing. The drinks were goo and the food was standard pub fare, but the service was mediocre and relatively slow. As a server for many years, I am generally super understanding of that, calming our moms who were losing patience and giving the benefit of the doubt. Eventually thought we had to leave to make our concert and had to rush the bill process etc. along. I had still planned to give a middle of the group tip, until we finally got our bill and realized that they had charged us $12.99 to sub chicken for beef on our nachos. First of all, that is an insane uncharge for 1 chicken breast that almost no one in their right mind would have agreed to, and second, regardless of what the uncharge is, it is the servers responsibility to let the table know that when we inquired. Our server said "that is no problem" when we asked about. If she had informed us " we can't really do that unless charging you for a 12.99 chicken breast" there is not a chance we would have agreed. At this point, we had to get to the concert as we had waited at every single turn throughout the meal and did not have anymore time to spare for me to get into this with the manager after having to wait already for her to take off our tourist tax fee. She brought the machine, and I was enraged and I did something I have only done one other time in my life and did not leave a tip. That $13 we wasted on the bill sure would have been a good start to a tip. SUCH a disappointing experience for a $200 bill. Tapped our card and ran out of there. I really hope the restaurant takes this review seriously as myself and the other 3 members of my party who are all locals were extremely disappointed, and while it should be a good spot to bring people and enjoy the atmosphere, it will be quite some time before any of us suggest going there with friends and family again after how we felt leaving. I tried to find a place to post on your website or for a survey on the receipt but that was not an option, so I am writing here, but if you would like to discuss more via e-mail I am more than willing. Thank...
