Have you visited Niagara falls? I am quite sure yes is the answer. Have you ever seen Mr. Nikola Tesla’s statue in Niagara falls? Many of you might not. Nikola Tesla is best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electric supply system. Mr. Tesla created the world’s first hydroelectro power plant at the Niagara falls! Tesla and Edison were competing with each other at that time with their skills. Nikola Tesla with AC and Thomas Edison with DC for transmitting electricity. For development of plant at Niagara Falls, both submitted their proposals in the contest in 1893 organised by Niagara Falls Commission. The pitch based by Tesla’s approach (Westing house Electric and Manufacturing Company) was accepted and awarded the contract since Tesla’s AC based bet was better than Edison’s DC based proposal!

There are monuments to Nikola Tesla on both (US & Canadian) sides of Niagara Falls. This monument is found at Queen Victoria Park and facing the river and site of the original hydroelectric power plant at the Falls. The statue is the work of Les Drysdale and was unveiled in 9 July 2006 to commemorate the 150th birthday of Tesla. What you see is a bronze figure of Tesla as he might have appeared in 1896, standing on top of an AC motor, symbolic of his inventions and contribution to the birth and harnessing of hydroelectric power at Niagara Falls.

Just steps away from the roar of Table Rock Welcome Centre stands the silent figure of Nikola Tesla — a quiet tribute to a giant of human genius. His statue, calm and thoughtful, overlooks the very falls he helped harness for electricity. Knowing that Tesla’s innovations made it possible to turn the power of Niagara into light for the world adds depth to the moment. A moment of peace, history, and deep respect — it truly moved me.

The Nikola Tesla Statue at Niagara Falls is a remarkable tribute to one of history's greatest inventors and visionaries. Standing in the presence of this statue, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of admiration for Tesla's contributions to science and technology.

The sculpture itself is beautifully crafted, capturing Tesla's likeness with great detail and precision. The location, overlooking the majestic Niagara Falls, adds to the grandeur of the experience. It's a fitting spot for a man who played a crucial role in harnessing the power of electricity.

This statue is not only a piece of art but also a symbol of inspiration. It serves as a reminder of the incredible potential of human innovation and the impact one individual can have...

Good views from here. Tesla has been adopted as the most important scientist by the local government because he drove the development of the modern AC power transmission system (while Edison kept pushing the nearly worthless DC transmission concept). Fortunately, Tesla worked Mr. Westinghouse to do practical things while Edison did all he could to claim all the credit for this and many other things he did not invent and destroy Tesla’s reputation and deny him the money he should have earned. Without Tesla our great grandparents would have been in the dark for...
