My husband brought me to the cook shop to celebrate my birthday after we had such a wonderful time last May for our anniversary dinner. My husband enjoyed his dish very much - lasagna. My dish on the other hand was extremely disappointing and nothing like when I had the same dish back in May. I ordered the linguine Alfredo, with double shrimp ($26 in shrimp). The pasta was FINE but dry. The shrimp was UNSEASONED, and extremely over cooked - it was like cutting a steak.
Now, I will take responsibility in the fact that I didn't say anything at the restaurant (even though my face said it all). I really wanted to enjoy my birthday dinner and not hinder the experience. I felt very embarrassed to tell the waitress "give me double shrimp, It was sooo delicious last time!" to then turn around and say "this shrimp is unseasoned and over cooked. Take it back"
Where the restaurant needs to take responsibility is that this dish should have NEVER left the kitchen. I did reach out to the restaurant via Facebook and the response I got was that it's basically my fault I am unsatisfied. I should have told the waitress and they would have "seasoned my shrimp". The owner said he will serve me personally on our next visit.
I don't want nor need to be served by the owner. I would like regular service that one would recieve any time they dine at the cook shop - if it's as wonderful as the experience I had back on May 16.
Due to inconsistency and the owners unwillingness to take responsibility for their part of this situation, it's unlikely that we will be back. It's extremely unfortunate because MAN, that first time we dined here the food was AMAZING.
** recieved another message from the owner stating that I am "obviously unwilling to come to a solution in this situation" - I would love to come to a solution with this situation, I think HE doesn't want to come to a solution and is...
Read moreI had the pleasure of reserving The Cook Shop on two occasions, and both experiences were nothing short of outstanding.
During my first reservation, unfortunately, unforeseen events prevented me from attending, but the staff at The Cook Shop proved to be incredibly accommodating. Despite my absence, my party of four was treated to amazing customer service and a spectacular dining experience. They went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a great time, and special kudos to Spencer, whose exceptional service made a significant impact even though we never met in person.
My second visit was just as remarkable, as I got to experience everything firsthand. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. The food was absolutely divine, and it's evident that the kitchen staff and chef are true experts in their craft. The wait staff was attentive, friendly, and made the entire dining experience seamless. The generosity and warmth of the staff truly made me feel welcome, and I can't praise them enough for their efforts.
The desserts and bread were simply phenomenal, and I must say that the lamb chops were a highlight of the meal. I can honestly say that I have zero complaints about anything.
Now, I'll admit that the prices at The Cook Shop may appear on the higher side, but let me assure you that every dollar spent was incredibly worth it. The quality of the food, the exceptional service, and the overall experience far surpassed any initial reservations about the cost.
All in all, my experiences at The Cook Shop were nothing short of magnificent. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone seeking a perfect dining experience. Whether you're attending as part of a group or on your own, you can expect top-notch service, delectable food, and an overall memorable time. I'm already looking forward to my next visit, as I know I'll be back countless times...
Read moreWe went here based on high ratings, but I think it is far over rated. It is not bad, but conversely not really good either. Everything had far too many mushrooms (and this is from a person who loves mushrooms) and the food was rather bland. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was pretty good. We started with the escargots forestière. The escargot were small and not much flavor, but were smothered with mushrooms. We love escargot, but would not order this again. We followed that with the country vegetable which was good, but very basic. For main course I had the escargot and shrimp - there was not much shrimp or escargot, but again tons of mushroom - it was OK, but not special. Another person in our party had the steak Diane which was not very appealing as the meat was tough and the gravy was a bit boring. Another in our party had the pork loin which was by far the best thing we had - it was tender and tasty. The meals came with a Caesar salad, garlic bread and a choice of vegetable or spaghetti. The Caesar salad had way too much dressing and the lettuce was not cut up at all - so again only OK. The garlic bread was probably the highlight of the meal. Some of us had the "spaghetti" which I think is an overstatement - it was noodles that had about a tablespoon of sauce, and the vegetable were bland root veggies. We also ordered a side of mushrooms before we realized all the food had way too many mushrooms in it. They were OK, but with so many mushrooms on everything unneeded. Our server Moe started off very good, but after a couple more tables of people showed up the service got very slow (too many tables for one server we believe). This is a place that I would go only if someone insisted on going. It was not bad, but was not really good and there are far too many good restaurants around to bother with this one. They should consider...
