We went here based on high ratings, but I think it is far over rated. It is not bad, but conversely not really good either. Everything had far too many mushrooms (and this is from a person who loves mushrooms) and the food was rather bland. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was pretty good. We started with the escargots forestière. The escargot were small and not much flavor, but were smothered with mushrooms. We love escargot, but would not order this again. We followed that with the country vegetable which was good, but very basic. For main course I had the escargot and shrimp - there was not much shrimp or escargot, but again tons of mushroom - it was OK, but not special. Another person in our party had the steak Diane which was not very appealing as the meat was tough and the gravy was a bit boring. Another in our party had the pork loin which was by far the best thing we had - it was tender and tasty. The meals came with a Caesar salad, garlic bread and a choice of vegetable or spaghetti. The Caesar salad had way too much dressing and the lettuce was not cut up at all - so again only OK. The garlic bread was probably the highlight of the meal. Some of us had the "spaghetti" which I think is an overstatement - it was noodles that had about a tablespoon of sauce, and the vegetable were bland root veggies. We also ordered a side of mushrooms before we realized all the food had way too many mushrooms in it. They were OK, but with so many mushrooms on everything unneeded. Our server Moe started off very good, but after a couple more tables of people showed up the service got very slow (too many tables for one server we believe). This is a place that I would go only if someone insisted on going. It was not bad, but was not really good and there are far too many good restaurants around to bother with this one. They should consider revamping the menu.

We visited The Cook’s Shop for the second time, and sadly, it will be our last. Our first experience left us impressed, so I did give a very positive review, but this time around was a major letdown so I had to delete the review and write this one. We came as a group, and not only was the food disappointing, but the service was shockingly rude. We ordered a NY Striploin, asking for it medium rare. What we received was well-done, or at best, medium well. It was so overcooked, it was hard to cut or chew. When we politely pointed this out, the server bluntly told us, "No, I believe that's medium well," as if we didn’t know what we ordered. Then the server’s boss comes up and says “What did you order again”, we replied medium rare. And his reply was, “I believe that’s medium rare”. It’s just so disrespectful to say it like that. His chef made a mistake but they are making the mistake look right. Disgusting behaviour. He was even looking low on us. The whole group was stunned, especially since another friend ordered medium rare, and their steak came out pink and juicy like it should. The pasta, which we loved last time, had also dropped in quality. They said they no longer add the cheese crust, without any notice. To top it off, we were overcharged for an appetizer because they doubled the order to "make sure everyone got a piece" without telling us. Funny part, when the bill came out, it had a separate section written Alcohol total. We didn’t even order Alcohol, but taking so much money and can’t fix these issues is just ridiculous. The staff’s attitude throughout was stubborn and dismissive, as if they didn’t care about our concerns. Overall, we left feeling extremely disappointed and won’t be back.

My partner and I are huge fans of beef tartare. We haven’t been to The Cook’s Shop in a while and found out they have beef tartare on their menu! We decided to go check it out! We ordered the beef tartare, angus beef scaloppine piccata with risotto and angus beef ribeye steak with mash potatoes. The beef tartare was the bomb dot com. It was amazing and we felt like we were in beef tartare heaven! Such a generous portion too! We’ve been to numerous places in the last few months trying beef tartare from different restaurants. This place had the best beef tartare we’ve ever had! This blows the beef tartare that we had in Montreal out of the water. It has a nice tangy acidic flavour and it comes with toasted bread. The smokiness from the bread was a really nice addition to the flavour. I got the angus beef scaloppine piccata sautéed with butter, lemon and mushrooms which was cooked to perfection. A very flavourful risotto and seasonal vegetables accompanied the meal. I really enjoyed it! The tenderloin was so juicy! My partner got the ribeye angus beef steak which came with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. He also really enjoyed it as well! Nice and char on the outside, nice, juicy and tender on the inside. Again, it was cooked to perfection. The mash potatoes were soooo delicious! Last but not least, the service was phenomenal. Our server was very attentive and a great conversationalist! The owner’s dad even came our table to make sure our food was okay! Both made sure we were content with our meals. We will definitely be back! 😊

My husband brought me to the cook shop to celebrate my birthday after we had such a wonderful time last May for our anniversary dinner. My husband enjoyed his dish very much - lasagna. My dish on the other hand was extremely disappointing and nothing like when I had the same dish back in May. I ordered the linguine Alfredo, with double shrimp ($26 in shrimp). The pasta was FINE but dry. The shrimp was UNSEASONED, and extremely over cooked - it was like cutting a steak.

Now, I will take responsibility in the fact that I didn't say anything at the restaurant (even though my face said it all). I really wanted to enjoy my birthday dinner and not hinder the experience. I felt very embarrassed to tell the waitress "give me double shrimp, It was sooo delicious last time!" to then turn around and say "this shrimp is unseasoned and over cooked. Take it back"

Where the restaurant needs to take responsibility is that this dish should have NEVER left the kitchen. I did reach out to the restaurant via Facebook and the response I got was that it's basically my fault I am unsatisfied. I should have told the waitress and they would have "seasoned my shrimp". The owner said he will serve me personally on our next visit.

I don't want nor need to be served by the owner. I would like regular service that one would recieve any time they dine at the cook shop - if it's as wonderful as the experience I had back on May 16.

Due to inconsistency and the owners unwillingness to take responsibility for their part of this situation, it's unlikely that we will be back. It's extremely unfortunate because MAN, that first time we dined here the food was AMAZING.

** recieved another message from the owner stating that I am "obviously unwilling to come to a solution in this situation" - I would love to come to a solution with this situation, I think HE doesn't want to come to a solution and is...

I had the pleasure of reserving The Cook Shop on two occasions, and both experiences were nothing short of outstanding.

During my first reservation, unfortunately, unforeseen events prevented me from attending, but the staff at The Cook Shop proved to be incredibly accommodating. Despite my absence, my party of four was treated to amazing customer service and a spectacular dining experience. They went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a great time, and special kudos to Spencer, whose exceptional service made a significant impact even though we never met in person.

My second visit was just as remarkable, as I got to experience everything firsthand. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. The food was absolutely divine, and it's evident that the kitchen staff and chef are true experts in their craft. The wait staff was attentive, friendly, and made the entire dining experience seamless. The generosity and warmth of the staff truly made me feel welcome, and I can't praise them enough for their efforts.

The desserts and bread were simply phenomenal, and I must say that the lamb chops were a highlight of the meal. I can honestly say that I have zero complaints about anything.

Now, I'll admit that the prices at The Cook Shop may appear on the higher side, but let me assure you that every dollar spent was incredibly worth it. The quality of the food, the exceptional service, and the overall experience far surpassed any initial reservations about the cost.

All in all, my experiences at The Cook Shop were nothing short of magnificent. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone seeking a perfect dining experience. Whether you're attending as part of a group or on your own, you can expect top-notch service, delectable food, and an overall memorable time. I'm already looking forward to my next visit, as I know I'll be back countless times...
