Ciao Amici — Restaurant in Oshawa

Our day started with a craving for a veal sandwich in sauce and trimmings. Went to our go to spot (Monday) and it was closed so next we tried the second place and it was closed!! So our hunt took us to the Curtis area , however nothing came up, so I googled it and voila Caio Amici. I placed a call and Lisa answered, well the warmth and kindness in her voice was like speaking with your own family member!! My buddy and I headed straight there as I filled him in on the kind voice on the phone call and how she made you want to go, with no sales pitch!! As soon as we walked in we felt how the atmosphere was charged with hospitality, like coming home!!! So welcoming and of course it was Lisa! The paisan in back kitchen area was awesome as well!!! So after introductions we witnessed her preparing our sandwiches with such pride, love and a joyful attitude!!! Our mouths were starting to water and could hardly wait to ingest it all!!! Engaged in conversation regarding the great Calabria district and the Italian cuisine that they set the pace for authentic cuisine!! Of course the first bite was were the story continued into a culmination of one of the best palate tingling experiences I’ve ever had!! Cooking is a passion for me and I can appreciate great home cuisine found in a commercial establishment……very rare to find!!! Especially here in Oshawa!!! This city lacks flavour 🤣!!! Mangia mangia indeed!!! This Veal on a Calabrese bun with tomato sauce, sautéed onions, sweet peppers and a splash of their own homemade habanero, ghost pepper and scotch bonnet pepper sauce made it for me and friend the utmost best that we’ve ever had next to Mamas own of course!!! Me being from the West Indian background, loved the hot pepper sauce!!! Take a jar home with you, however use with care!!! Really hot but flavourful heat!!! Anyway bravo Caio Amici and all the family who participate in authentic spice and food preparation!!! Bellisimo and magnifico!!! Grazia!!! Every one needs to experience this place and taste with understanding what good food is all about!!! The person who gave a two star rating has no idea of what real culinary and cultural taste is……because that food was not prepared with artificial additives, but it was fresh and tender coupled with a whole lot of love, pride and passion!!! This place is just incredible!! The warm welcome and very kind atmosphere I was blown away by how kind the couple is that runs this place. my only thing is I'm so sad how long it took me to find this wonderful Gem! I tried to tip and the wife actually tried to give my tip back witch was the sweetest thing but I was more then happy to tip as I just appreciate the hard work they are putting in so much! it's impossible to find a place this good believe me I have tried! I will NEVER eat pasta anywhere else from now on the food was so good I went back the first day they were open again and from now on I'll just be ordering extras the day before they aren't open so that I have it every night. I have Adhd and when i find a place thats this good I just stick with them and with the health issues Im dealing with making food isnt always easy for me so knowing this place is so close to me is just a life savour! The food is just INCREDIBLE I have never been able to find such authentic Italian food made with pure love in this city! I give this place a 11/10 score if I could I am so so grateful I was able to find this place! To top all that off the amazing prices and great portions are an absolute wonder in itself! Just going to start this off by saying my wife owns and operates her own catering company so it’s safe to say we are a great judgement on food quality. We ordered for my wife’s birthday for the first time and to be honest have never heard of this place before as it is still fairly new. All I can say is WOWWWW! From Start to finish from how they handled the order to the gentleman that delivered who was very kind and also wished my wife a happy birthday as his dads was the day prior. We start digging into the take out and we are blown away on the quality! I will never order pizza or pasta from anywhere else! This made my wife’s birthday which in turn made my night! I will be recommending Ciao Amici to all my friends and family!
