I didn’t quite understand your comment about “judging,” especially since I simply exercised my right to leave a review. I didn’t judge anyone personally, but since you’re asking why I gave only one star for the food, I’ll explain.

The chicken tagine I ordered was extremely oily — it felt like I was eating a bowl of oil, as you can clearly see in the photo I shared. I wanted to try your food despite the negative recommendations I saw on Google, and after my visit, I even asked some friends who had been to your restaurant before. Unfortunately, they also didn’t enjoy the food. For that reason, my rating was based solely on the cuisine, not the service, which I found to be fine.

Additionally, I called earlier around noon to ask if you had bessara. A woman answered and told me it was being prepared and would be ready by 4 PM. Based on that, I made the trip from Gatineau to Ottawa specifically for the soup. But when I arrived, a gentleman told me that there was no bessara and that it hadn’t even been made that day. So why lie to customers?

Since I was already there, I decided to try the chicken tagine, but that also turned out to be a disappointment.

Finally, I encourage you to focus on improving the food quality and professionalism. Everyone has the right to share their opinion, and I respectfully request a refund for this...

This horrible cafe was a MUST avoid on your trip to Byward market and here’s why: The cook (not chef) has a horrible attitude towards his customers. He doesn’t realize that he is a non existent cook at a small eating joint that no one knows about and not Gordon Ramsay. He was extremely rude to us without any reason and gave us horrible anxiety that we almost stood up halfway and left. We had simply asked him about the ingredients of the dish as we dont eat a particular meat and he started demeaning us infront of everyone. If i could punch him, i would have! He deserves a punch. They kept blasting morrocan music so loudly after every 5-8 mins which was extremely noisy and unbearable The servers and chef didnt understand english properly. If you are running a restaurant at Byward market, atleast learn english. The whole world doesnt speak French and they make you feel uncomfortable about it. Typical snooty behaviour. The food was possibly the worst Moroccan food ive ever eaten and Ive been to Morocco before and have had authentic ones in Europe also. The chicken was undercooked and so dry, the salads felt stale and the couscous was the worst, no lemon, no flavours. So bland and dry.
