I have truly never had service this bad from any restaurant. We arrived at the restaurant at 9:00 pm to order takeout and didn’t leave until after 10:00 pm. We ordered a veggie platter and asked them to sub out the yam rolls for more avocado rolls and omit the soy sauce due to a gluten allergy. As I have Celiac Disease, I am very cautious with what and where I eat so I made sure to disclose this as the yam rolls contain gluten. There were 3 people waiting ahead of us. People who came in and placed their orders after us (about 20 minutes) received their food before we did. A man who was served 10 minutes after ordering received an apology for the wait time and we did not. The man taking orders was obviously very agitated and cut me off several times while I was ordering; however, I watched him key “ALLERGY” and the substitution into the computer so I know that he heard me. When we finally got our food, 55 minutes later, it ended up being incorrect. There were yams in both veggie platters and the sushi was broken and tossed into the trays randomly. We drove back to the restaurant (thankfully we live close by) to find a resolution. I told them that our order was wrong and the two workers started speaking to each other in another language, cutting me off. The worker accused me of telling him that I had an allergy to soy sauce and did not apologize for the mistake. I let him know that my allergy was to gluten and that I wanted no yams or soy sauce and he turned to his coworker and once again began speaking to her without replying to me. I asked for a refund and he seemed annoyed and said that he would have to call his manager to ask how to do it. Neither worker apologized for making a mistake on my order until I told them that I wouldn’t have been so upset if they had offered an apology in the first place.
I would like to mention that we come to this location frequently. We were patient while waiting an hour for our order (which has never happened to us in any restaurant we’ve been to) and didn’t even get an apology or acknowledgement of the time it took to make the food. I understand that there were only 2 people working but this service was abysmal. We will not be back to this location and will be sure to not to recommend...
Read moreI’ve been a regular customer of Edo Japan on Prince of Wales Drive for quite some time, but my recent visits have been very disappointing. The staff at this branch used to be a diverse mix of nationalities—Chinese, Filipino, Korean, even whites and others—and the food quality was consistently excellent. However, I’ve noticed that the staff has recently changed, and unfortunately, so has the quality of the food and service. The beef on the photo is so DRY…..
Today, I ordered the beef meal, and it was a letdown. The beef was dry and tough, the portion of rice was noticeably smaller than usual, and the overall taste and appearance of the food were far from the standard I’ve come to expect from Edo Japan.
Another major concern is hygiene. All food handlers and servers must observe proper personal hygiene, and this is non-negotiable. From the counter, I could smell an unpleasant odor, which was extremely off-putting and unacceptable in a food establishment.
I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and addresses both the quality of the food and hygiene practices to bring this branch back to its former standard. Until then, I’ll be reconsidering where...
Read moreGot two teriyaki chicken and rice bento boxes with tempura shrimp and California rolls. My partner and I both asked for two scoops of teriyaki sauce, but I don't think either of us got two, though it was still delicious. Food tasted fresh and it was incredibly filling. We asked to have it inside because I wanted to eat out in their red and black bento box (I was trying to provide an experience for my partner that he's never tried) but they gave it to us in takeout containers anyways, which was disappointing. I also got a mango bubble tea which tasted great, but it seemed like the person who made it didn't do any shaking or stirring themselves, so all the syrup was sitting at the bottom, which wasn't noticeable until you tasted it, at which point it was already too late to shake.
The benches are also incredibly uncomfortable if you're short! They dug into my legs since they seem to be angled up ever so slightly and my feet didn't quite reach flat on the ground.
Overall, mainly minor complaints, but worth noting. Still great food and a good place to go for a filling...
