New to Saskatoon, BOH specializes in hand pulled noodles done right in restaurant. I've had this before elsewhere, and it definitely makes the noodles next level.
They are currently going through a soft opening, so the menu is pared down for now. But the service & taste are already up there!! *Note - this is a "premium" restaurant, so expect a plate/bowl of noodles to be around $18+. Worth it
We did the shredded Bean curd and lamb skewer (not pictured) to start. I love bean curd, and was happy with the spicy flavor. If you don't like bean curd, the texture may not be to your liking. But great value for amount of food. The lamb had a great spicey sauce and was properly cooked. But I was disappointed that it was just 4 small, single bite pieces.
I chose the saurekraut noodle soup because I've never had such a thing. I was very surprised & please with it. The broth is clear with no visible salt, pepper, or other spices. It also had very minimal salt & oil overall, but the broth flavor was very much there. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it was fresh, clean, light. Lots of noodles & broth to go around - didn't actually eat it all. It was a bit difficult to eat, as it seemed like the noodles were cut at 24" strips. You get to choose your noodle, so maybe I missed a length listing.
My partner got the stir fried noodles, which had a very tasty medium-spicy sauce. Black bean base? It was good. It comes with the usual thick round noodles, and the portion was very generous. I really liked the flavor of the oils on the noodles, which didn't seem greasy at all, as fried noodle tends to be.
We were also served & fed in an amazing amount of time. By very nice and sincere staff. Though the menu is currently small, we plan on being back again during the soft opening so we can try different things. Highly recommend...
Read moreI recently visited Bowl of Heaven in downtown Saskatoon and was blown away by the experience. This relatively new restaurant is beautifully decorated, with a modern vibe that reminds me of my favorite spots back home in Toronto. The interior is thoughtfully appointed, and the open-concept kitchen, separated by glass windows, allows you to watch the chefs hand-pulling noodles right before your eyes—a fantastic touch that adds to the authenticity and charm of the place.
I ordered the signature hand-pulled noodles with braised beef, and it was nothing short of amazing. The noodles were fresh and perfectly chewy, and the beef was tender and flavorful. I added some hot sauce to the dish, which gave it an extra kick that I thoroughly enjoyed. The bowl itself was extremely filling and satisfying. As a side, I tried the cucumbers, which were also delicious. I also ordered two skewers, and they were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of spices.
While the restaurant is a bit pricier compared to some places in Toronto, the quality and flavor of the food make it well worth it. I can honestly say that this is probably the best Chinese restaurant in Saskatoon due to its authenticity and incredible flavors. I left feeling completely fulfilled and already craving more. I’m already planning my next visit—there’s so much more on the menu that I’m excited to try!
Highly recommend Bowl of Heaven if you’re in Saskatoon and looking for an authentic, flavorful...
Read moreI understand this is a soft opening but.. a lot of the appetizers were inedible.. this is a constructive review.
Lamb skewer - 4/10 meat tasted good but the seasoning was just club house chili powder sprinkled on top which made the flavour profile horrid.. I would’ve rather ate it without the seasoning.
Marinated egg -1/10 the inside was not jammy inside and was overcooked.. the marinate tasted off and really odd. Couldn’t finish it
Fish - 5/10 was overcooked, just.. so tough i couldn’t eat it. flavour was good though
Chili Chicken - 7/10 I understand this is a cold dish but due to it being cold the chicken felt really tough and stringy to eat. I warmed it up at home and it was a lot better served hot over a bed of rice.
Jerky - 2/10 over seasoned spice which made it inedible, the spice level made it unbearable to consume. Made my friend cry a little bit.
Pickled radish - 10/10 the only thing that was appetizing
Strawberry matcha drink - 9/10 good, not too bitter or sweet. Small amount of strawberry syrup with crush strawberry bits on the bottom . Wish it had fresh cut strawberries.
Peach tea - missing (?) waitress forgot to input in the order.
I really like that you can customize which type of noodle you can add to your bowl.
Interior design is nice and I love the open concept kitchen viewing. The order sheet with pencil is really...
