Went to Aloette Bay on a Saturday night for dinner. The staff was phenomenal from the host to the server to wait staff. The restaurant was very well decorated with a variety of table combinations and great little cubbies under the banquettes for bags. Our server was very knowledgeable and made some great recommendations. We ordered the east coast oysters with a great mignonette and the octopus carpaccio. I think the octopus carpaccio was incredible. The black garlic, pepper rings and hot oil elevated it to a whole other level. They also provided complimentary bread with butter. We also ordered the tuna tartare. It is served with shiso leaves and thin cucumber ribbons. The pairing with the shiso leaves was a fine touch! The bread tasted like a buttery croissant! For mains we ordered the 8 oz strip loin, the scallops and the squash and tots on the side. The steak was served a perfect medium rare, sliced with butter and a chimichurri. The scallops were probably the best scallops i have ever had. Pan seared to perfection. The squash has some rich butter sauce and pumpkin seeds—i literally scraped the ramekin with my knife. The tots were also a great way to serve a potato. Incredible experience from start to end! Follow me on instagram and TikTok for more in depth reviews and recommendations @frxnfltz

I’ve been wanting to try their famous, as seen on, “ BIG BUCKET FOOD “ show, the burger, fries, and lemon meringue, for a long time. We finally made it. The atmosphere didn’t disappoint, and I’m glad we went at 3pm, when the lights were a bit brighter and it was uncrowded. It gets busy there after business hours, and when there’s games or concerts. The service was outstanding without being intrusive. Complimentary soft cheese loaf with an imaginative whipped yeast butter was served. Not sure if it’s a regular thing though, or a special occasions kind of thing, but we sure were excited. The burger was delicious, pure good quality with a lovely extra cheese spread, and the fries with spicy aioli and a massive pickle were just perfect. I thought maybe the cheese would have more ‘pull’, but it was delicious none the less. This place is definitely a special occasions place on my budget, but it was worth it. The pie , served with a wedge of lime was nice to cut through the eggy taste of the curd, and add more brightness.

We (3) enjoyed a delicious lunch here to celebrate the holidays (and friendship). We ordered a few appetizers to try (all delicious!) Tuna Tartare, Hamachi Crudo and the Iceburg Wedge. The Aloette burger was a recommended main so we tried that along with the black truffle burger and the Aloette fried chicken. The burgers were great (we didn’t find the truffle burger to be as good — but it’s possible expectations were high. The Aloette burger came with fries and they were nice and crispy and right amount of salt. We enjoyed several cocktails: gong show, arctic club and Iceburg fiction — all of them were delicious. And, we finished our lunch with an espresso martini also very well done. The atmosphere is part of a food hall feel but the restaurant itself was clean, soft music and the decor is pleasing. Service was fantastic (only critique would be that the 3 meals didn’t come out at the same time) but even that was a minimal hiccup. Overall, we had a great time and would return and recommend.

Aloette was a true disappointment. We had their Valentine’s Day tasting menu. Here’s the breakdown of my feedback:

The appetizers were decent and probably the highlight. As for the scallop dish, 1-2 pieces had not-so-fresh scallops. You could taste the fishiness. Not great.

The two mains we had were pasta and steak. The pasta was mediocre, and the steak was questionable. I think the kitchen might’ve forgotten to season half of it, because one side tasted better than the other. Also, the steak was pretty undercooked, making it tough to eat. The steak came with potatoes and squash, which were fine. The aioli that came with the potatoes was good though.

For the price I paid, I was very disappointed. We were there for 2.5 hours, and most of that time was spent waiting for food (we even took our dessert to go). For context — we waited over 30 minutes for our mains, and had to follow up with our server to check on them.

Overall, I’m very disappointed in our experience at Aloette, especially after hearing good things. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.

P.S. If it wasn't clear, I was very...

This was such a disappointing experience. I was genuinely excited as aloette is so hyped up and this was really terrible. Went for the lunch rush and felt pressured to hurry and order. Food delivery was so slow because of the kitchen getting backed up. The server apologized but did nothing to create a better experience. Everyone who served us looked like they’d rather be anywhere else. And the food was simply bad. Tuna tartare had too much pepper and was served with slimy cucumbers. I’ve had better fried chicken at Popeyes. The fried chicken is supposed to be a main and is a tiny piece alone on a plate with no accompanying food. Somehow this mess all came out to $94 with a dessert (which they tried to upsell, somehow it’s $6 more to get lemon pie vs chocolate cake), a Diet Coke and a drip coffee. They don’t even have espresso based coffee. Also the low top booth table we sat in was super cramped and weirdly hard and uncomfortable. Honestly completely unbelievable, I am an idiot for spending this much money on an...
