Our daughter bought us a Kibo Sushi gift card last Christmas. Since then, we have tried to redeem the gift card twice (last time was today) and both times the franchisee at the 16 Yonge street location refuses to accept it. We used to order food there regularly and now we haven't since receiving this useless gift card. Taking money for a gift card that won't be honoured is theft plain and simple. The franchisee at 16 Yonge should be held accountable by Kibo Sushi corporate unless perhaps this is their policy too. We have wasted 2 trips to use this gift card and will not be trying again. DO NOT BUY GIFT CARDS FROM KIBO SUSHI UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF! Update Sept 30 Re: Kibo Sushi response - The information provided now with the response about using the card online is helpful. I don't understand why this information could not have been communicated when we were there in person asking how can we use this card. We were simply following the instructions printed on the card - The card reads clearly "please present this gift card to pay for products and services at Kibo Sushi House". No where does it state that this is to be used only for online purchases, nor did the staff advise us to do so. Why put instructions on how to use the card if those instructions are completely wrong? Why not tell customers who show up to redeem as per the directions on the card that those directions are incorrect and that the solution is to order online. What we were told when we first went in to redeem back in January was "that our terminal was not set-up yet" indicating to come back when it was set up....which is what we did 9 months later. Anyway, it is clear that Kibo Sushi takes the position that the customer is always wrong, so good luck to you and to the next person who buys your gift card and tries to redeem it by following the instructions that are on it.

We got the Salmon Donburi and the Premium Salmon Lovers. The Premium Salmon Lover was a far cry from premium. They give you a free hand roll if you give them 5 stars - so the Google rating is likely inflated. They used dishonest business practices of putting bright fresh salmon on the outside of the rolls, and then they would hide old salmon on the inside of the rolls. The inner salmon were noticeably fishier - you could smell it immediately. Worst still, we even found a dangerous fish bone in one! The rolls also barely held their shape and fell apart. The soy sauce was overly salty, and not brewed in house. Didn't even provide napkins for takeout. Overall - it felt quite cheap and of poor quality. Save yourself some time and go to another establishment.

Been coming to Kibo for years as its a good neighbourhood option for takeout sushi. They have expanded quite a bit throughout the city and I believe this was one of the first locations. Staff is really friendly and ingredients are fresh. They recently revamped their menu and added some interesting new Maki rolls. A welcome change is that they no longer put tempura yam in every single specialty roll! Compared to other sushi joints around the city I find the value at Kibo isn't quite there if you're opting in for made to order (which I typically do), but they have specials that have good bang for buck if you don't mind pre-made rolls/sushi. Overall a good option to get your sushi fix if your in the neighbourhood but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Just ordered a salmon avocado pizza. I've ordered this several times before in many sushi places. Every place so far it's always been slices of salmon and avocado with some kind of sauce, maybe tobiko, which is totally fine.....theirs comes with crab meat on top as well. I'm allergic to shellfish. I bring it back and say, 'hey, you have crab meat on top of this it doesn't say that on the menu., I'm allergic" to which she replied, "you didn't ask" Sorry but if I order just a salmon and avocado anything, I think I'm getting just salmon and avocado... What would make me ask if crab meat comes on top?! I reply "you should tell people you put crab on top" I was given such a hard time being told "we cannot ask every client about every ingredient" and "this is take out, not fine dining"....EXCUSE ME, WHAT?!?! What's that got to do with anything? When I got it the right way, yes, it was good....but the customer...

My most loved Kibo location. This location won't deliver to where I live so usually order from N.Y located one and they are pretty nice but this 16 Yonge location suits my taste way better so I order from this place whenever I pass-by. Never disappointing. Their torched sushi are full of flavors and the dab of that bold spicy mayo sauce on top is amazing. Am assuming they are using a different sauce than other Kibo locations. The cashier was very patience with me with all the requests and recommended me with the substitutions after I told her I despise cucumbers..haha. This is what I call a service. It's a pretty small open space for a quick grab and go and am able to watch how they make it, which is nice considering the current situation. Everyone was wearing a mask, looked pretty neat inside the kitchen as well. Keep up with your good work folks and thanks for the great food...
