Giulietta on College Street has become a staple in our dining repertoire, and after celebrating our 22nd anniversary there, it’s clear why reservations are so hard to come by. Introduced to us by our good friend Dharmesh, we've returned many times, and somehow, Giulietta keeps raising the bar. The food and service are consistently exceptional, but this last visit truly stood out.
Our evening was made even more special thanks to Georgio (I hope I’ve spelled that right), our bright and personable server. His attentiveness, warmth, and knowledge were the perfect complement to an already flawless dining experience. He made us laugh, shared stories about his time in Canada and schooling, and even surprised us with complimentary prosecco to toast our anniversary. It’s rare to encounter someone who strikes the perfect balance between professional and personable, but Georgio did exactly that.
Towards the end of the evening, we had the pleasure of meeting Amanda (who I believe is part of the management team). Having dined at Giulietta several times, I initially mistook her for Laura, one of the managers we had met previously, but Amanda handled my mix-up with such grace and good humour that it became part of the charm of the night. She chatted with us about our love for Giulietta, introduced us to their Michelin-starred sister restaurant, Osteria Giulia, and even offered to help us secure a reservation there. It’s that level of personal touch that sets Giulietta apart. Not just excellent service, but genuine hospitality.
The food? As IMPECCABLE as ever. We started with fresh, vibrant salads, followed by the Papardelle al Ragu—honestly, the best pasta dish I’ve ever had in my life. The texture, the richness, the depth of flavour, it’s the kind of dish that lingers in your memory long after the last bite. We ended the night sharing the gelato dusted with coffee powder, a decadent finale to an unforgettable meal.
While Georgio and Amanda stood out, what’s remarkable about Giulietta is the seamless collaboration among the entire team. Throughout the evening, at least six different staff members attended to us, refilling water, delivering courses, clearing plates, all in perfect harmony. It felt like watching a well-orchestrated symphony, where every note was just right.
Giulietta is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience. Each visit leaves us more impressed than the last, and our anniversary dinner was no exception. For anyone looking to indulge in high-end Italian cuisine, paired with impeccable service and genuine hospitality, Giulietta is...
Read moreOriginally booked for a Valentine’s Day dinner with my girlfriend, but she got sick and we couldn’t make it. Thankfully, Giulietta was accommodating with cancelling our reservation and we looked forward to coming back another time once she felt better.
And it did not disappoint in the slightest.
The food was absolutely sensational, and we both enjoyed every dish that we ordered. In particular, we highly recommend the carne cruda, the braciola di maiale, and the La Matera pizza 🤤. We still think back on it 😌
But we’d like to really highlight the service that we received. From the moment that we walked in to when we left, we were treated with some of the most polite and attentive staff we’ve ever had the pleasure of interacting with.
In particular, we were closing in on our seating time limit which I was aware of. At that point, we were already quite full and just wrapping up the last couple of dishes. We were reminded of the time as the seats were needed, and that if we wanted to have dessert, we could move to the kitchen counter seating.
I really want to emphasize that that no point did we feel we were spoken rudely to or felt like we were being rushed out of our seats. The staff really seemed apologetic and were doing what they could to not disrupt our experience.
By that point, however, we were quite full and the thought of dessert was a distant thought 🥲. We just asked for the bill after finishing our food and made an offhand mention that we were aware our time limit was out. Our waitress was really surprised and told us that we didn’t need to rush out because of that, but we assured her we were already quite full.
To our surprise, one of the staff returned with a takeout torta della nonna dessert with their apologies. Our experience for the evening was already quite memorable, but this gesture really highlighted to us just how wonderful the service was at Giulietta.
Unfortunately, we can’t recall anybody’s names 😔. But I write this review thoroughly hoping that it gets communicated to them just how much we appreciated their service that evening.
Really looking forward to returning one day. Highly...
Read moreThe food and mood were the best part of this restaurant in conclusion.
It was the best Italian cousin I ever had in Toronto with the moderate price range for the restaurant that is entitled for Michelin guide. Reservation slot opens 14 day ahead only so you can plan your visit accordingly. Every crew in the restaurant was professional with the kindness to make your experience special enough.
Pasta of the day is not on the menu so I would recommend to taste it although you want to try your favorite or different menu. We had a BROCCOLINI in PADELLA, GIOELLA BURRATA con UVA, ORATTA alla GRIGLIA, and the pasta of the day with white Chardonnay wine. It was a good pair with the food and you can also ask the service person for the recommendation if you do not know what to or how to pair with the food.
BROCCOLINI in PADELLA : Something you would never taste before. Crispy and creamy texture with grilled/smoke smell. Sauce was very special as I never tasted such sauce before
GIOELLA BURRATA con UVA : Burrata with lightly grilled grape was a real appetite!!
ORATTA alla GRIGLIA : Grilled fish with very clean tastes. I typically do not order fish dishes but this dish changed my mind. Very plain state with special sauce makes the food do not go greasy at all. Also the visual presentation is a very eye-catching, too.
Pasta of the day : It was a simple pasta with ground beef. If you are the fan of raw pasta taste and texture, it would be the best choice. The taste was well balance with nice visual presentation, too.
TIRAMISU CLASSICO : This was the best tiramisu I ever had in Toronto. The top cream foam layer is not dense as typical tiramisu instead it was just little dense than the foam of cappuccino! The bottom layer was not soggy at all and it was really well balanced. I would definitely recommend to trying any dissert menu after your main course!
Plan to visit at least 30min earlier than your booked time as the parking on the street is quite...
