Gyu-Kaku is a well-known international chain of Japanese BBQ restaurants that originated in Japan. The location at Adelaide and Church offers a wide variety of food options that vary depending on the region and availability. They offer a la carte, course, lunch, and seasonal menu items. The restaurant is available to reserve a table through Open Table, and they have happy hour all Monday long with great deals and cost savings.

Upon arrival, the staff was welcoming and checked our reservation. They guided us to the table and mentioned all the standard processes from the menu to beverages and the dedicated staff for our table. Note, their sauces start from the red sauce of spicy sauce, ponzu sauce and sweet sauce. Our table ordered the Melon Soda Float, Kyoto Sunset, and the Yakiniku Party course meal that is meant to serve 4 people. There were over eight starter options and ten protein items in the course meal, and the delicious dishes were the Chicken Garlic Noodle, Prime Kalbi Short Rib (Sweet Soy Tare), Umakara Ribeye, and Umakara Pork. Their Umakara sauce was particularly delicious. The course meal also included s'mores for dessert.

The staff did a great job of cleaning and pacing the table, managing dish and table organization very well, and cycling out empty dishware. They kept the water replenished at all times and were informative on the serving and cooking times of each meat item. They also provided some table sauces per person that flowed from a spicy red sauce to ponzu and sweet for the other end of the three-tray dish.

It is important to note that the restaurant is not all-you-can-eat. While cooking your own food can be a fun experience, the restaurant has a poor ventilation system that could be improved. Some restaurants have a better setup for reducing the BBQ smell, which can stick to your clothes. Also, they do offer takeout raw Gyu-Kaku meat that customers can...

Embarking on a lunch adventure at Gyu-Kaku turned out to be an absolute highlight, setting a new benchmark for midday dining. Joined by a colleague with a craving for ramen, I opted for the enticing lunch deal offering three delectable items for a mere $19.95, leading to a remarkable culinary journey.

The service at Gyu-Kaku was exemplary. The staff's exceptional hospitality and attention to detail were evident as they guided us through the intricacies of grilling meat, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable tabletop experience. Their expertise elevated the entire dining affair, making it not just a meal but a memorable experience.

My selection of Toro beef, Kalbi Chuck rib, and Prime Kalbi short rib from the lunch deal was a stroke of culinary genius. Each cut boasted freshness and premium quality, delivering juicy, succulent bites that tantalized the taste buds. Accompanied by a flavorful soup and rice, it formed a complete, satisfying meal.

The staff's detailed instructions on grilling times for the meat empowered me to take charge of the culinary process, resulting in a perfectly cooked feast. The overall experience was nothing short of exceptional.

What added to the charm was the restaurant's convenient location, allowing for a leisurely stroll back to work. The blend of quality food, impeccable service, and a comfortable ambiance made this lunchtime visit to Gyu-Kaku both enjoyable and unforgettable.

In conclusion, Gyu-Kaku emerges as a top-notch destination for delightful lunch options. With its tantalizing lunch deal, outstanding service, and top-quality meats, it's a venue I wholeheartedly recommend for those seeking a flavorsome and gratifying dining experience. Leaving the restaurant, I carried with me a sense of contentment, courtesy of the remarkable time...

Sometimes the best meal is when you cook it yourself.

Here at Gyu Kaku, they serve you up some really tasty cuts of beef. Some of them are marinated while some are just lightly seasoned with salt and pepper. Recommendations are highly recommended because this place will get very busy and it's usually an hour wait to get a table.

Grill your own food places aren't new in Toronto but Gyu Kaku brings that Japanese sensibility for:

-offering a great environment (casual like an izakaya); -equipment (grill that has a strong and quiet fume hood underneath); -menu (offering a pretty wide selection of premium grill items); -price ($40 per person which includes tax and tip should leave you feeling stuffed); -and even a loyalty app where you can get $10 off $30 when you sign up (best thing ever).

The menu here is quite large with appetizers, noodles, soups, and of course a wide selection of different cuts of beef while also offering pork, chicken, seafood, and veggies.

You can order a la carte to your heart's delight or go for the one of the pre-built combos that can serve 2, 4, or 8 people.

We ordered the samurai combo for the four of us and we were left feeling beyond full.

The samurai combo offered appetizers, salad, noodles, rich, and a selection of 8 dishes (mix of beef, pork, chicken, and shrimp) for the grill.

The tastiest cuts was the ribeye steak and filet mignon while the toro steak and skirt steak were marinated lightly and very tender too.

The atmosphere was very comfortable and lively. I would love to...
