I love love love south st burger. And have been to this location for over 5 years. But their new staff is RUDE and horrible. They have 0 clue on how to make south st quality burgers and they have 0 clue on how to talk to a human being, as if I was taking my food for free? I’ve paid for it (and these burgers aren’t cheap/ fast food) I have the right to get the toppings I want and not have everything just thrown on there. Both the women at the counter had a horrible attitude, made faces the entire time, I felt like I was begging for free food. Both of them were Asian, and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one complaining about them. I saw a review here from months ago complaining about the same thing so it’s clear the management does not care. This location used to be SO much better. I’d recommend trying the Don mills or king st location, WAY BETTER customer service & food. So disappointed and I hope management looks into it. I did talk to the manager immediately, but it didn’t seem like she will be doing much all she did was offer me a free cheesecake which I did not take. It took them 25mins to make the order. And the staff didn't served the drinks with the food. I had to walk to the counter several times to select toppings, pickup burgers, then again drinks and condiments. I have worked at SSBurgers for 14months and I know Grilled chicken burger order takes 8mins or 10mins max. I saw the staff messing around with each other and with some customer they knew, and they forgot to put the chicken breast on the grill. When I asked them why they didnt served the drinks along with food, they said they forgot to make the shake because there is a shift change happening. I stayed there for about 30mins hsving my food and there was no change that happened. It was the same staff.
The food taste GREAT. Everything was cooked nicely. The lady at the toppings was generous to my request for sauces on the side.
Their taste pushed me for a 4-Star but their service deserves lower than that. Its a Premium Burger place. Staff should be courteous to the customers. Thats what i was trained onto as a Supervisor. Hope...
Read moreI had a very terrible experience here. I had a coupon, and the owner rudely refused my coupon, because I was by myself. He told me that I need to be ordering with another person in order to use the coupon. I tried ordering with people around me, but the owner said "I will not honour you" anymore. After that I left. I later discovered that two of my friends had just gone when I had left. I went back in the hopes that I could use my coupon. The owner again denied me. He said that they also already had used their coupon, and so, I could not use it with them. The man kept insisting that he would not "honour me." I felt very belittled.
I have been here before, and the owner has always been rude, but the other employees have overall been nice. The food is okay. The concept is interesting: it's a Subway for burgers. But the price is unreasonable. I'd rather go to a pub, a steakhouse, or even A&W to get a decent burger. And the wait is sometimes up to 10 minutes.
