I'd firstly like to say this is MY experience only, as I've read through the reviews and see so many raving reviews.
Went tonight (a Wednesday around 8pm) it wasn't terribly busy, my fiance and I were seated quickly and were immediately offered service.
We both ordered the southern fried chicken with mac and cheese. We were told it would be about 20 mins up front which we were ok with.
It came and looked stellar, besides being a bit dark but, too my amazement it wasn't over cooked. I attributed it to older oil. Meh it's all good.
The chicken was actually cooked really really well the white meat was moist and juicy but, unfortunately had absolutely no flavor. None. I dont mean it wasn't salty like KFC, I mean no nothing.... no seasoning whatsoever. Not sweet, spicy, smoky or anything just so bland I didn't even finish 1 of the 3 pieces they gave me.
Mac and cheese was basic and the kale slaw they served was ridiculous it came in a tiny ramekin I mean why even bother.
I actually kept it to myself and didn't complain, my fiance was quite proud of me 😁. The server finally came over and asked how everything was to which I replied "its alright" she couldn't even make eye contact with me and just turned and walked away. Didn't even ask what was wrong. Customer service 101 make sure the customer is happy if they are unhappy try to offer a solution. That was the last we saw of her.
The manager came over and asked if we'd like another drink to which I said no thank you the bill would be fine.
Our plates were still full he didn't ask if anything was wrong, instead offer to box up the rest.
My fiancee insisted I say something so when he returned I mentioned that the food was lack luster, and that the chef missed the mark on the seasoning. He said nothing and walked away.
We paid and left very...

On the outside, it looked a bit empty but the lively and homely atmosphere has a nice meeting place vibe. Seating is anywhere between 2 to 8, excluding the bar. Surrounded by face which aren't people you wouldn't think would end up in a lineup, there are a few who are friendly to serve you up some standard pub grub.
Wings, burgers and fried goods which always pairs well with a brew. The Mugshot Wings were quite meaty with the heat of the Louisiana hot sauce dulled by the ranch. But at a certain point especially with a 2 pounder of wings, this switches and overpowers the ranch. For me, I was 4 away when the the sauce put me in a heated daze. For a small menu, they definitely have the worst offenders for being too sweet, salty or spicy. It took me longer to consult whether I want the traditional wings, a hefty burger or a classy main.
Service was standard, really kept an eye on me as I scarfed down those wings while helping survive the aftermath. Their front of house is really friendly and if you're unsure, they do come to you and provide hosting duties which is something I wouldn't expect in a small establishment like this.
For anyone visiting the cherry blossoms, taking a nature hike, or doing business locally, this spot feels like that place can help...

The decor is both quirky and nostalgic, featuring mugshots of famous gangsters and celebrities from the past century, creating a distinctive atmosphere. It’s an ideal spot to grab a drink, enjoy some food, and catch up with friends. As advertised on their website, the staff are friendly, engaging, and do a commendable job of maintaining a warm and inviting environment.
The bar is well-equipped with a good TV setup for watching the game, and there's also a quiet backyard patio for those who prefer a more relaxed setting. The food is top-notch; I tried the Roast Beef Dip, and it was a delight—juicy, tender beef served on a baguette with a side of fries. However, my one critique is that the fries were over-seasoned and too salty, which detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal.
Despite this minor issue, I highly recommend Mugshots if you’re in the High Park area and looking for a cozy tavern to grab a bite and a drink. The bar is accessible and just a two-minute walk from Keele subway station, making it a convenient addition to the Bloor West/High Park neighborhood. Overall, it’s a great spot that enhances the...
