Alright, this easily was one of the more bizarre restaurant experiences I’ve had post-covid. tl;dr of this review: If you have the option order delivery as while the food was good, service was terrible. Read on for details! To be fair, it was a larger group so the tip was going to already be included in our bill. When we arrived there was a pile of chop sticks, two stacks of paper plates, and two stacks of styrofoam cups. There were 3 servers standing right at the point of sale and 5 steps away from our table. It took about 10-15 minutes after we arrived until one of us went up and said we were ready to order. Once the orders were in and drinks were delivered, someone ordered a pitcher of beer. The pitcher was served with another stack of cups, specifically red solo cups. As the table was the 30+ crowd, we did ask for actual glasses to drink out of. Shared 3 orders of half chicken with dumplings and sweet potato fries - all of which were very good. When it came to asking for takeaway containers, the servers brought a huge stack of styrofoam containers in the old plastic bags - enough that half of the containers and bags were left unused on the table. No checking on how many were needed, just a stack. 🤣 When we were ready to go, we again needed to get up from the table and ask for the bill (remember how far away the point of sale was?). We called ahead and checked (and was confirmed) to split it into 4 bills - the max they allowed a bill to be split. Staff declined this was an option and told the bill needed to be paid as one, and we sort out who pays for whom. Luckily we took that option, but weird it conflicted with what we were told originally. Overall, it was a bizarrely terrible dining experience. I wish the tip wasn’t already included in our bill because staff did the bare minimum for their job. This was also reflected in how empty it was. It would have been also nice not to feel like I was at a child’s party with the type of dishwater they were using, such a terrible idea for the environment.

My friend wanted to try this place soley on the fact it looked pretty with all lights inside. The lights were okay, gave off a very Christmas Clubbing vibe to me. Im not sure how to describe the service.. they were nice but they did not give very accurate info about the wait times. And didnt serve that well. They said it would be over an hour wait since everyone just came in and we didnt mind waiting so since we were all hungry we went to ChungChung CornDog or whatever that korean corndog place is called for a snack and got korean corn dogs which took about 10mins in total then they called us saying there was a table available now.. So we had to rush back. Also we ordered Half and Half chicken, tteoboki and two white rice, i would have expected the rice to come first since its just a bowl of rice but it never came after we receieved everything. We asked for the rice after speaking to a waiter, waited and it never came. We had to ask again for a different waitress and she finally comes with the rice. I understand it can be busy but its two tiny regular bowl of rice. Just scoop it from the rice cooker and its done. How does the chicken and tteoboki come first. The food itself was not great, especially for the price. The chicken didnt have any crunch and breading was soggy, plus the sauce bland. I would only go here for the vibe but even then i think there are much better places for a good vibe. If you want korean fried chicken go anywhere else. Ive been to many Korean fried chicken places and this by far is the worst one. The tteobokii was also just mediocore. For anyone who likes spicy food they white wash their spiciness. I didnt mind because i cant handle too much heat but my other friends who LOVE spicy said it all tasted sweet, which I agree compared to othet tteobokis ive eaten this one was very soupy and mild in spiciness.

It has been a while I came to this place and I remembered they had an excellent fried chicken back then. I decided to revisit on Saturday evening around 6pm. It was very dark inside and most tables were empty except the tables close to the window. A waitress greeted us with no smile & enthusiasm. We picked the table( close to the window) and she placed water, napkin and side plates. Even though it was not busy waitress seemed to forget to give us a menu. When we eventually got the menu, this time she came to our table to receive orders again with no smile, no personality whatsoever. There was another male server, he pretty much seemed to have no smile either. They both looked very miserable to work at the restaurant. Food & drinks were served on time, however once food was served, nooone was checking on our table to see everything was okay. For fried chicken, green onion chichen had strong hoisin sauce flavour that I did not expect. Kkanpoong chicken was supposed to coated with spicy chili soy sauce but it tasted like ketchup. I did not like either fried chicken. Dinining experience at Dakgogi was not very pleasant and food was mediocre. They really need to really step up their service level. I hope it was just two servers who worked yesterday and usually it is not like that.

Yesterday was my first time trying out this restaurant, and I can confidently say it was my last. I had udon with fried shrimp, which was 19$, and it genuinely tasted absolutely bland. When I come to a restaurant and I pay a higher price than fast food, I am expecting to, at least, enjoy my food, but I couldn’t even finish it, because it tasted like absolutely nothing. Food, however, was not the worst part of our experience, service was. In almost an hour of being in the restaurant, the server didn’t check on us once. We never had our water refilled, and when my friends wanted to order another dish, they had to chase the server around the restaurant. Which, funny enough, didn’t help, and they decided not to order anything. The server consistently checked on the tables next to us, passing our table at least 4 times without giving us any mind. When someone else, who wasn’t our original server, finally came to our table, it took another 10 minutes for us to explain to him how to split our bill since he didn’t know what any of us ordered. Of course, I didn’t tip, and I almost laughed when I saw “suggested tip options” at the bottom of my receipt. How can there be any tips for absence of any service what so ever? Save yourself time and go to another place, where you will be treated better, and where you enjoy food more. Probably one of the worst restaurant...
