They were pretty skimpy on the beef. Also, they asked me to sign up for the rewards and said I would get a free ice cream and extra noodles right away for doing so. I said yes to ice cream and the server said I could have both but by the end of the meal was expecting it yet they never brought it out or said anything about it not being available so when I asked about the ice cream at the end (which I actually really wanted) the same server who asked me to sign up then said they didn’t actually have any tonight but could get it next time I come in… yea as if that’s going to happen after this first experience 🙄 like are you lying or really don’t have any ice cream - but then why not even mention this change the whole time??! The fact that they don’t even do anything to try to make up for this oversight was just very poor service in my view.. didn’t even tell me until I had to ask about the ice cream when I asked for the bill.

Why suggest it in the first place yet not even tell me if they realized they didn’t have any? - it also does not look like they added any extra noodles.

This is the Creamy Truffle for $29.8 below… it’s not even the price that I care about it’s that they literally asked me to sign up for the rewards saying I would get ice cream but then not even bring it or tell me they don’t have any… like? Seemed callous by not communicating this change at any point in consideration to the customer. Nor was it clear if they added the extra noodles. It’s not even about the extra noodles it’s just the very poor service in consideration of the customer based on what you communicate to them.

I was literally the only one at the restaurant tonight as the fireworks were going on so not sure why the customer service was so bad as to offer ice cream and extra noodles and then not do so or require the customer to ask you about it at the end when no ice cream, in fact, was brought out or mentioned thereafter.

Also, pretty sure I saw a mouse run across the floor

Edited for update: response to this review from this establishment was complete useless - sure you need to train your staff better but how does that remedy my experience what did you offer me that actually makes a difference to me - you essentially stole from me not just monetarily but also in terms of time and energy by not giving me the full value / experience that you would offer other customers the response is not a...

I don't understand the hype at all and overall, it's mediocre at best.

I arrived with zero expectations except having seen some photos on social media. The staff are quick to acknowledge and get you settled in. They're accepting card payment only and let you know when they greet you.

The menu is simple but too simple. I had to ask the server what was included in the dish and in short: pick the flavour, amount of beef, amount of noodles, and add sides for extra $ or order an appetizer if you want. The dish itself only comes with a sprinkle of green onions and roasted garlic pieces. They do have some extra garlic bits at the table for you to add.

I ordered the creamy beest (apparently second most popular per the server) with regular portions of protein and noodles but it honestly wasn't flavourful ($17.80 + tax). The creamy beest wasn't that creamy because the noodles were barely coated in any sauce. The roast beef, while thinly sliced and tender, lacked flavour (just salted and nothing else). I don't think they paired well together.

The dish is a dry ramen which isn't bad concept or idea but they have instructions on the table telling you to mix the noodles well and I found it ridiculous as I had nothing to mix with as there was no sauce. It was so dry, the noodles started to clump together after a few minutes. They do have some liquid condiments on the table but they weren't labelled.

They also give a complementary soup but I opened the container and all I saw was a layer of oil on top so I found it quite unappealing. The soup is to drink on its own and not for the ramen. I tried it anyway and it just wasn't good and I can't tell you what soup it was either.

So yeah, overall won't be coming back.

Oh and I overheard that take out isn't available as I saw a customer turned...

Went here with my parents and my partner for the ramen special.

We waited 20 mins in line (which moved relatively quickly to our surprise). We couldn't put our name down, which is really inconvenient. We could have walked around as it's in Downtown core, instead of waste time in a line.

Once we were seated, we ordered the following appetizers: Chicken Karaage Chives Mochi Fried Squid Beef Potato All of the appies are mediocre at best, except the chives mochi, which was pretty decent. Although, I must say, the fried items needed more than just mayo as a sauce.

While we were ordering our mains, we were told that they ran out of ramen broth. Confusing as they had the special menu for the ramen on our table and we weren't advised upon being seated. Had we known, we would've gone to a different restaurant. After hearing this, we were ready to leave and cancel our appetizers as we were there solely for the ramen. Our server excused herself to speak to the kitchen and a few minutes later she returned to us and said that if we wait 10-15 minutes, they would have ramen ready (in my head, how could you prepare broth that quickly???). We ended up staying to get our ramen.

Literally, 3 minutes of waiting we received our mains. I was DUMFOUNDED, were they lying about the broth running out or...??

To our disappointment, our ramen broth was NOT hot, it was barely warm, had NO flavour. The roast beef was cooked well, pink in the middle but it was seriously lacking salt or spice. Not only that but our add-on toppings of eggs, green onions were served on the side 7 minutes later and not in the ramen (we found this odd) . It was a bowl of disappointment for $19-20 each. $80 in total.

Overall, it was a dissatisfying experience. Would...

Came by to try this restaurant as my sister loves beef and wanted to take her later if it was good. Sadly I have a crustacean allergy (shrimp, crab, lobster etc) and was glad I asked about it. Turns out most dishes have shrimp in it (it's in the beef tallow for more punchy flavour) and can't be removed from the mazemen. Instantly I can't eat half the menu, so I opt for the black garlic ramen. I am typically ok with a little cross contamination and was prepared for if there was a lot (there is). I think with the limitations of my allergies the cooks had to omit a fair amount of what gives their dishes big punchy flavor (the tallow). The ramen noodles were nice and bouncy, and the fact they have a slew of condiments available for free on the tables (a lot of places now charge for fried garlic chips for example) was great. The beef really shines in these dishes. Sadly for me, the broth wasn't nearly as flavourful and there wasn't too much garlic in the dish compared to other chains (but easily remedied by the garlic condement but I could have gotten the regular ramen and done that). The pickled onions were a great texture and added brightness to the dish but there was very little of it so felt a but overwhelmingly one note after I finished. Honestly this is likely due to my food allergies and many other customers were very happy with their food. They have a nice points program as well, so if you go sign up since it's free and you get stuff like more noodles, ice cream and the like. Long story short, if you have a crustacean/shellfish allergy, give this place a pass. I had mistakenly thought a beef noodle place would be safe for me to eat everything on the menu. Otherwise if you can eat it, go for it! Please enjoy what I cannot.
