Review for May 1, 2022:
After the newsletter announcement of their Robson store grand opening, I was pretty excited to get a gift card due to their promos during the grand opening weeks.
When we arrived, there were a few people ahead of us in line. The family ahead of us left without even getting to the counter - not sure why. Perhaps it was a similar experience to other reviews about slow service. When it was our turn, I went up to the counter and greeted the employee manning it but he didn't even acknowledge me and kept on fiddling with the POS terminal. When this employee finally decided to greet us, it was as if he didn't want to be there and that helping us was an annoyance.
I told him that I wanted to get the $200 gift card as per the promo announced in the newsletter. I said it was the best deal available because I would be getting twice the value loaded into the gift card.
"So you got the $50 gift card right?"
I started to get irritated after numerous times of telling him that I was getting the $200 gift card option.
After finally loading the gift card with the correct amount, this employee started talking about the Bella Gelateria app.
I told him that I had tried numerous times to access and create an account on the app even before the opening of the Robson location. I even showed him the page I kept getting redirected to (I can't seem to get past the verification page on the app) but this employee's attitude, instead of being helpful, was one of annoyance and dismissiveness. I had already contacted Bella Gelateria customer support about this app issue through Facebook about this but haven't heard back from them about a resolution.
I didn't get a chance to have the gelato at the Robson location but I think I'll be going to the other locations instead. 2 stars because I like their gelato but the service was poor. The interaction with this employee left a poor taste...

Let's break this down, shall we? $8 for a single scoop of ice cream in a cup, but if you want that in a cone, you’ll have to tack on another dollar. And if you're looking to walk on the wild side and grab a gluten-free cone or a charcoal cone, throw on another $0.25
It's just so exorbitant when you consider the fact that you can literally buy a tub of ice cream for the same price. No doubt, this is quality scrumptious ice cream that Bella is hocking, but still. It's practically a luxury item in this day and age where price gouging has become the new norm.
I always order the cup, and what I've found is that they are way more generous in the amount of ice cream they heap onto a cone. There's a more artistic flair when they're scooping it onto a cone and trying to make sure that none of it falls off. And then there's the tennis ball sized scoop of ice cream that they drop into my cup, so simple that they could do it with their eyes closed. I understand you're paying more for the cone, but the discrepancy in quantity is concerning when you consider that there's only $1 difference.
Bella also offers up Italian pastries, for those of you seeking something more substantial. Here, at least, the pastries are slightly cheaper than most of the Robson Bakeries but look just as captivating. And, more importantly, taste just as good.
If you're looking to satisfy your sugar cravings, Bella is a decent option. If you're more after bang for your buck, you'll find your tub of ice cream heaven in 8 minutes if you keep walking down...
Read moreI'm gonna tell you a sad story about this place. This amazing gelato place used to be close to Coal Harbour with amazing flavours. This was my go-to for Gelatos since 2017, even though it's pricey but size and flavours were worth it. Last couple times, I have been to Bella on Robson has been a disappointment. I don't mind paying 9 bucks for the Gelato but now it's half of the size that you used to get when coming here. I don't know if it's the new policies of Bella to serve the scoops so poorly or the employers that doesn't seem to enjoy their workplace at all. As much as I love the salted caramel, $9 for a gelato for half of the size that it used to be is not worth it.
