I am an out of town tourist and I was deeply disappointed with my experience here which occurred May 16th, an hour before closing. I’ve never had to worry for my safety in a restaurant up until coming here. Me and my buddies were sitting by the front entrance, all is going well until a man with a cross-body bag and tattoos entered. He seemingly knew most of the staff who works here. We accidentally mistook him as an employee who works there as he was dressed very similar, my friend asks him for a drink and he gets very angry at us then starts swearing us out and calling us all sorts of offensive names. He then leaves the restaurant while looking back at us, then he enters again but this time he goes behind the bar area and talks to one of the female employees. As they are talking he is whispering into the employee’s ear while pointing at us which made us feel very uncomfortable. After he was done talking to her, he came back to our table and got in our faces, swearing us out yet again but this time he is making death threats to my friends and I. We tried asking him what we did wrong but each time he told us to shut up and that he knows the owner of the restaurant and the employees. The security guard was behind him as the man was swearing and making death threats to us and security didn’t do anything to intervene, which made us think they knew each other. At that point we did not feel safe, and the manager was nowhere to be seen. We immediately got the bill, called an Uber, then left. The man and his friends were outside the restaurant with hoods on so we had to be very cautious. As someone who is from Victoria, they would never allow anyone to be treated like that in a restaurant especially for something as minor as simply mistaking someone for an employee. I would suggest to anyone you are better off picking a place where safety is actually prioritized. I also suggest the manager hire...

Especially at that price, you would expect better. The burger was a sloppy, carelessly thrown together dish with a patty dryer than the desert. And overcooked to the point where it was chewy like bubblegum. The bun was a soggy mess that tore apart when picked up. Its convenient they serve it to you in a bag because it's all going to end up falling into there anyways once your dish falls apart. Very cafeteria vibes, maybe you'd enjoy this slop better if you were drunk. It's good they have cheap shots because your going to need them to even enjoy this food.
The wings were equally shameful, the breading came off like a gloopy paste and the sauce was nothing special, it was barely even coated properly.
The milkshakes were the only good thing about this meal, but even those. There is nothing notable about them at all, there's many other places nearby you can get better milkshakes at a similar price.
I had to also repeat myself multiple times to the server, seems like he didn't even care if we enjoyed the food or not. Left a review on Instagram as well and the restaurant replied with a heart face. Don't seem to be the type of people who actually care about what their customers think and would rather serve overpriced slop.
Long story short, if your in the Downtown Granville area, SKIP COMING HERE. Even Fatburger is better than this. Save your money, don't even bother coming to Chit Chat Burger Bar, you should have more respect for yourself than that.
If I could rate it lower than...
Read moreAs a professionally trained chef I rail against the Health Dept's need to be sure that every burger cooked and served should not arrive bloody. There is a simple solution to not having had your meat KILLED again. The trick is to let the meat REST after cooking. Went to this restaurant with very clear set of instructions written out as to how to cook my burger 3 minutes on each side and 5 minutes to rest. I asked the waiter to show this to the kitchen and to ask if this was possible. If not I'll just take the side of Kennebec fries. So off I went around the block to wait. My burger was ready. I tried to see what it look like in the restaurant but that's pretty hard. So despite the fact to spend over $20 for a burger with fries they KILLED the meat once more. You can dress it up with all the garnish and sides that you want but the burger was still dead meat. Dead, grey and hard. I guess I have to wait until January 11th when the new restaurant Crush opens around the corner. They are a burger fries and milkshake joint found it in Victoria. You know I had a burger in Palm Springs a month ago. And I dragged half of it on the airplane with me. It was the first time in probably 20 years but I had a medium-rare hamburger. You don't have to cook it to death to make it adhere to health regulations. Obviously, that someone in the kitchen can't read or doesn't care. So I'll go back for the Kennebec fries. But little more...
