Came here with the kids for what was supposed to be a nice lunch on the patio. We waited a very long time for our appetizers. Which wasn’t too much of a problem for us but the main problem was the food. It was bland and the fries were mushy. I thought I’d play it safe with the Speakeasy Burger but the bun was 2 times the size of the actual hamburger and it wasn’t even in a burger shape. To wait that long just for the food to disappoint us was very upsetting. That wasn’t even the bad part. When we were leaving we were VERY close to scraping our ankles and/or legs on what appeared to be a large nail sticking way out of the flower planter box. Very unsafe for anyone… let alone kids. We won’t be coming here again.

Head to the back alley, and you’ll see how many rats and roaches share the same food as you. Shame.

I was delighted with this place, the Aperol and the special coffee drink were wonderful, the snack and the dish were all perfect, whenever I come to Downtown, this has become my mandatory stop, I will come back more often, the service from the Brazilian Maria at the bar made all the difference, and everyone at Speakeasy is very friendly, a place not to miss when passing through the city, congratulations to all your team who value the excellent service!

Never going to Speakeasy on Granville ever again...

Long story....went there with a friend to catch a soccer game today. Arrived at 11:50am and found a table. At this point, most of the pub was empty and noticed that there were just two waiters working.

12:10pm: pub started to fill up. No waiters greeted us or brought us any menus

12:30pm: still waiting for any sort of attention... some tables managed to order and started to get their food/drinks.

12:40pm: Still nothing. Waved at waiter #1 and asked for a menu... she said she'll be with us "in a minute"

12:50pm: one full hour since arrival... no menu yet. Went to the bar and asked for a menu. Was asked to go back and somebody will bring me a menu

1pm: Went back to the bar and demanded a menu.. Waiter #2 gave me a menu. At this point, most tables started to get their orders

1:15pm: Still waiting for a waiter to come by and get our orders. Waved at waiter #1 asking to order, and she again said she'll be with us "in a minute"

1:30pm: went back to the bar and asked to order. Waiter #1 said: there are just two waiters here, so we are not taking any new orders. I said what should I do then? She said, just go back to your table and watch the game, and we will be with you as soon as we can.

1:45pm: still waiting. went back to the bar and asked to waiter #2, who repeated the same thing. Starting to get frustrated, I asked how come every other table was able to order except us, and if they are expecting a third waiter to arrive, which she said yes.

2pm: Waiter #3 arrives at the pub, and gets our orders.

2:30pm: still waiting for food. Asked waiter #3 if food is coming, and he said, the kitchen is busy, and it will be another 10-15 minutes :O

2:45pm: Food arrives, 3 (!) hours after arriving!

2:50pm: 5 minutes later, while eating, waiter #3 brings us the bill that we had not asked for yet!! I notice that he charged us 20% service fee for our party of 2, while the menu said it would only apply to parties of 6 or more. I asked for explanation and he said: "the restaurant is busy, and we are understaffed and working pretty hard, so we are applying it to all the bills." I was shocked at the audacity to even charge any service fee for their horrendous service. I refused to pay the service fee, asking for it to be taken off. He then threw the old receipt in our nachos bowl that we were still working on!!

3pm: Left (without paying any tip, obviously), after having the worst experience ever at a Vancouver pub, and will never...

They served me my Eggs Benedict on a piece of white toast!! That about says it all! This was my first and will be my last time at this restaurant. My friend and I were hungry and we noticed their 'sandwich board' out front promoting their breakfast, so thought we would give it a try. I ordered eggs benedict and my friend ordered the hash. Everything else seemed fine, nothing out of the ordinary happened, nothing really worth commenting on. But when the food was ready she dropped it off and walked away. I was confused as I looked at my plate. I called the waitress back and asked her if this was how the benny was normally served. She said, "No, we ran out of English muffins, so we used toast". She said it as if it was a normal thing to do. I was shocked. I responded, "You should have told me, didn't you think I would notice?". She asked if I wanted something else, but I said no, it will take too long and I am starving. I thought to myself, it is just breakfast and I eat eggs on toast all the time, so I just ate it. I can't believe they actually thought it would be OK to serve eggs benny on toast. They should have a bit more pride in their product. I will not go back; there are way too many other restaurants in Vancouver; there is absolutely no need for me to patronize a restaurant with such low low standards. I am shocked they did that. It is laughable. That...

This was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a bar in Vancouver. We were seated and waited 30 minutes for a server. We ordered drinks and waited another 20m to receive very simple drinks. We then proceeded to wait another 15 minutes for our bills and we are told to calculate our bills each ourselves??? As you can imagine telling people who have been drinking an hour to midnight doesn't give you the most accurate results so they send someone to help us. This new person brings us a new bill and they have the audacity to increase the bill by adding a 20% tip on top of it?

Literally the only reason to go to this place is if it's late and you're desperate for somewhere to stay with your friends.

I understand there are shortages with the staff, but we were literally forgotten about and overcharged and overall it was a shameful display and I will not come back and I will encourage everyone I know not to come back and I implore everyone who reads this to not come here unless you meet the requirement above and even then you're better off going to the nearest BC liquor and just drinking on the sidewalk outside.

Edit: to add insult to injury they brought my friend the wrong drink and the drink she was...
