This place is all fake vibes and power-tripping security I was waiting patiently in line, smoking in the clearly designated zone. Even had a chill exchange with one of the guards who joked about it. No problem there. But right as we were about to walk in, this other bouncer, Felix, came out of nowhere and violently grabbed me and started screaming in my face like I was causing a scene, when I was literally calm and respectful the whole time. I’m a woman, by the way. There was absolutely no reason for that kind of aggression. For a place that tries to market itself as part of the culture, inclusive and good vibes only….the energy inside clearly doesn’t match the branding. If your staff feels the need to power-trip on women in line for no reason, you’re not a cabaret, you’re a joke.

Was on a night out with friends on Wednesday, did have a few drinks on board but was asked to leave for no reason. I said ok, can I get my jacket, I was not allowed to, had to walk home in -7 without my jacket. Go to the lost and found the next day for them to tell me my jacket is not there, my 350$ snowboard jacket and my airpods (with my name on them) in the pocket, that were a gift. If I was asked to leave, fine (even though i had done nothing wrong and have never caused any problems) but i dont think it is unreasonable for someone to get my jacket when its -7 and snow out. Anyway, out nearly a grand and will be a while before i can afford to replace them. Happy Christmas.

This place is five stars for live local music before 10pm. It was a big age range (19+ to much older) and relaxed and spacious at those times when I went. For after 10pm, some people describe it as "a bar you go for sticky floors and sticky people" - known in Vancouver for a place for picking up one night stands. Also good for raucous friends who are into that kind of venue and time even if you aren't :) Stay safe if you're doing the post-10pm thing. The staff from front entry to bar were all super super lovely too. Unexpected and appreciated! Edits: Big age range and 19+

Horrible customer service experience. I contacted the office on Sunday about a lost jacket, and they told me their lost and found hours are reduced to 2-5pm for renovations. I live in Abbotsford, so I said I have a friend who’s closer and can come by on Wednesday between 2-5 to pick it up. They said the hours can change due to renos and took my full name, phone number, and the name of my friend picking it up. This all felt really well handled until my friend showed up today at 2, stayed an hour while knocking and calling, only to be told no one came in to the office today and they could maybe try again tomorrow. MAYBE!? I continued to try calling all afternoon until 5 with no answer. And do they have a voicemail? No, just an automated voice saying to call back during business hours, which this was. Imagine if I had come out from Abbotsford only to be told no one bothered coming in or calling me to say the hours had changed??? Instead someone else’s time was completely unnecessarily wasted. Unbelievably unprofessional and a truly disappointing return to ā€œnormal businessā€ post covid. I imagine I’ll still get my jacket back eventually, but to call this establishment professional in any sense would be a huge contradiction to...

Friday night was my first time going to the roxy. I've heard great things so was excited to finally go out and give it a shot. Sadly, I was disappointed at the point of coat check.

The bouncer for the guest list had great personality but still had that tough persona which is expected. This was a start to what I had hoped was a great experience.

We finally get in and could not locate clay check. It was about 10:15 and the gate was closed. So we asked the bartender when they open and with lack of any interest just said whenever the girl wants to open it.

Finally after a little bit there seems to be a lady opening it. So walk up to counter and let her o what she needs to do to get ready. She never acknowledged us or anything... then just left the coat check area for a bit without saying anything.. will you be coming back? Are you open? At this point there was a line behind us equally confused and annoyed. Finally she was able to help us but had THE worst attitude. We were such an inconvenience to her and we were confused on the process as their is a slip you are meant to sign or something..

Anyways the live...

The Roxy is a place where everyone goes, either for a last call (its open an hour later than most places), a celebration, or just to dance to the live band. Tourists, corporate types in suits, people after an event or conference, the occasional actor or athlete, college kids, people in there 30's 40's +. No one cares who you are. It's completely social. The live band is extremely talented and is always spot on and there's lots of room to dance. Or there's a pool table in the back room if that's more your thing. Is it a bit gross with its carpet? Yes. Ignore that. It is by far the best place to go in Vancouver for a fun unpretentious time. Some people roll their eyes at the Roxy, but I've always had a great time there and usually always meet really interesting people. And I say that as someone who goes to a wide range of places from white tie events to dive bars. Vancouver's liquor licences prevent lounges or restaurants from being able to create a social environment. The Roxy is one of the only truly social places to go out to...
