If I could leave negative stars I absolutely would. Being an individual with an invisible disability, I had to use the restroom quickly prior to purchasing an item. A woman working there came up to me quite abruptly and told me to purchase something. I let her know quietly that it was a bit of an emergency and I would buy something after. She blocked my way and pointed to the counter and demanded I buy something. I said again that i would after and said again that it was an emergency (with some extra details as she didnāt seem to understand what I meant) She demanded again. I said that my husband would gladly buy something while I used the toilet. She then pointed at him and demanded he go buy something right now. My husband, seeing my discomfort and hearing this employee raising her voice at me came to check I was okay. The woman tried to shepherd my husband to the counter and when he didnt move, I expressed to her that my husband would get something but was currently trying to Protect me as she was being very intense. She left in a huff, the lovely woman in front of me in line held the door for me and gave me the key.
My husband then went to buy something and tried to talk to another employee and the man tried to argue with my husband. Once I was finished in the restroom I went to the male employee (not knowing at this point that my husband had tried to talk to him) and I let him know what I used to carry a medical disability card with me expressing my immediate need of washrooms and that I hadnāt carried it for years as everyone is always very understanding and I have never faced an issue. He told me all about an elderly man he let use the washroom without buying something. He then went on to on express that there would be no way to know if I had a disability to which I told him that many disabilities are invisible. He was very rude and basically said that it was ridiculous to think someone would guess at an invisible disease and how would he ever know. He also said that he had no proof I was telling him the truth. At this point I honestly wanted to show him the scars that I have across my entire torso but decided against it - I expressed (yes my sass starts to come out here as at this point I was feeling pretty angry) that typically by being a kind person to people generally helped. He said something along the lines of āthanks for the lectureā and at this point, Iām crying, absolutely told him to go to hell in less polite words and left dancing while I flipped him off. Mature response? No, but for everyone else with an invisible disability, had to do it. Peace yāall - get a coffee...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad to deal with violent staff behind the counter. Suggested a friend to walk over to Coffee Bar as we made it a day to try different coffee shops in Gastown. Coffee Bar had been one of my favourite coffee shops to go to in Gastown in the past. Today we had to deal with a screaming lunatic who worked behind the counter. Aware of the no public bathroom sign, my friend needed the bathroom and I asked the staff asked if she can use the bathroom and while I chose a food item. I have multiple food allergies so needed time to decide what didnāt have dairy or gluten as there was not a lot of food options left, only pastries. Another worker was available to help and I let her know I needed time, yet she was quite persistent multiple times keeping her eyes on me waiting for me to make my order quickly. I was deciding between the gluten free bar or trying something else, and the other ālunaticā staff glared at me and started shouting behind the cash register what I was going to order and that I needed to order. Shocked, I said I needed more time, and she said that I needed to order because my friend was using the bathroom and that I said I would buy something. I told her that I am allowed to take time to make a decision, but from her aggression I thought of how the service was already incredibly unprofessional, and was put off by her rudeness and lack of anger management skills. My friend came out of the bathroom and had taken her wallet out and said she would buy something too. I signalled to her we needed to leave because the staff was being aggressive. As we left, the ālunaticā chased and ran after us while behind the counter and screamed at us, screaming āYOUāRE A LIARā repeatedly. Everyone in the cafe was startled by her screaming, and people outside the cafe was watching us get yelled at by this worker since my friend had already opened the door. The other worker with the red hair didnāt bat an eye or turn her head to the altercation. The lady screamed at us for a good 20-30 seconds, and my friend and I both exited the scene. We both work in the service industry and had never experienced anything quite like this, Buro literally has employed a mentally ill, unstable, violent staff. Be weary of entering or supporting...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe owner was trying to scam!!! I ordered Iced americano, barista was preparing for it, then owner lady with hat spoke to her something and poured iced coffee which was sat on the cooler for a long time and gave me calling "here is your iced americano." WHAT AN INSULT!!!! DO YOU THINK I DO NOT KNOW WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE???? barista knew it wasn't right and gave me a look that she was sorry. As soon as I told her it's not americano, barista fixed my order and gave me proper iced "espresso" drink. BE AWARE WHEN YOU ARE ORDERING ICED AMERICANO.
EDIT after owner's response:
Scam could be a strong word however, I was pretty mad about the fact that she was trying to change my order in the middle of making it and I was regular customer of Coffee Bar for couple years.
Please name a coffee shop which sells Iced brewed coffee at higher price than Iced Americano. Besides, I know what I am ordering, why would she change my order in the middle? Just because your operational supervisor "thinks" brewed coffee is nicer than Americano? then why would she call it "iced americano" when she was handing it over to me?
In the end, I am just one of regular customer who is extremely disappointed how I got treated and you are the owner of well-known business. I have right to write a review, and you have your right to either apologize or defend your employee and business.
I wouldn't even write anything about your business if I have gotten my Iced Americano as I ordered.
Best of luck for...
