We came here on a whim as we wanted Mexican Food and it’s right across the street where we were staying. The first time we walked in, it was empty so we left as no one came to greet out. We walked up the block a little looking for another Mexican spot but no luck so we came back here. The food was not good. We ordered guac and it was so bad, ate one chip and left the rest. The bean taco smelt bad and tasted worse so we left it. The chicken taco was good and I didn’t like the fish taco so my husband ate it. I’ve never left a restaurant so fast in my life. 10 out of 10 wouldn’t recommend.

Only half of the menu advertised on their website is available. The sign out front for all day breakfast was also a lie. We were one of three tables in the restaurant, the server took close to five minutes to acknowledge our arrival ,and the server was lethargic, barely friendly and hardly apologetic when she said oh yes that’s the new menu online and on Google. It’s available in like two weeks. She was more concerned in speaking with her friends who were seated at the bar. Lovely surprise for my birthday.

Ok I’m impressed. This is a kinda new spot and my office is a half block away and we wanted a quick easy lunch. And holy, we were blown away! We each had 3 tacos and were SO full. All three were so good - chicken, fish and the pork *chefs kiss*. Service was also so great thank you Fernando! It was also so quick which was wonderful. This place should be way more busy so come for lunch and dinner. This all you can eat Sunday sounds like a thing of dreams! Come you won’t regret it! We’ll be back!

This is a repost of my review on "Toloache". I believe it is important to repost because "El Comal" is just a rebrand. It's the same restaurant, and yet they still have both locations showing up on Google maps:

This restaurant is no longer known as "Toloache", it is now "El Comal". This is about the 3rd name change in 5 years. They used to have a great weekend breakfast buffet, but apparently, they stopped doing it on Saturdays, and it's closed. 1 of the other 5 groups of people we bumped into (also hoping to enjoy this once great restaurant's buffet) managed to get a hold of someone at the restaurant and asked why they were closed when their sign, Google maps, and online menu all said they were open and they said they were full with reservations. The lights were OFF inside and there was NO sign of any employees AT 11:15am when they should have been open for an hour and 15 minutes by now. Don't know who the current owners are now, but they clearly don't care about their restaurant anymore. My partner and I loved the breakfast buffet and wanted to try it again after almost a year away, only to find a dark and empty restaurant on a Saturday at 11:15am. Such a...

We had a terrible experience. Half of the buffet was empty, and the other half was cold! The little food that was available tasted good, but it was ice cold—imagine cold pork, with all the fat congealed!

The coffee was awful too—it tasted like leftovers from the previous day because it was so concentrated. The buffet cost $40 per person, which is way too expensive for an empty and cold buffet.

They were supposed to open at 10:30 AM, but even by 11:30 AM, they were still struggling to get the buffet ready.

I’m not coming back—it’s a waste of money. There are plenty of great places in Vancouver to enjoy warm and delicious...
