Two stars. And you're probably wondering why. This restaurant is in the newly opened Parq Vancouver in downtown. My family and I decided to check this place out to see if all the fanfare about this place was worth it. We were sat down courteously so that was a good start. But we sat down and waited probably 20 minutes with nobody and I do mean absolutely NO WAITER OR WAITRESS to ask or help us if we were being helped. We were disappointed and frustrated and it wasn't even busy. Nobody filled our cups with water. Poor service is a big deal for me at any restaurant that we try. And this placed disappointed big time. The hostess when we left apologized for the lack of service. But nobody was more disappointed than we were.
The ambiance at the restaurant is good. There was a sense that this was a real nice place. Unfortunately because the service was downright poor. It didn't really matter how nice the ambiance was.
The food was good. But for the price you're paying for an Eggs Benedict ($18). It really isn't worth it. It was a nice try. Parq Vancouver is a destination for those who don't live in the city. This is a place for outsiders. For locals. I cannot seem to recommend this place. Its expensive. It's also hard to find parking. The food is good, but not for the price you're paying. I'm not sure if we come back again. Not for lunch that's for sure. Maybe. MAYBE for dinner. If, however, we get the same kind of service we did at lunch today. This review goes down another star. Perhaps even down to just an overall 1 star.
My wife after 20 minutes of waiting for anyone to come to us and take our order went to the front and asked the hostess herself why we weren't receiving service. For a restaurant that is considered expensive. This type of service is simply unacceptable. Honey Salt can and should do better. Especially if you're asking people to pay a premium to dine at your restaurant!!
Two stars because the food was good. The price was expensive for what you're getting and the service (another star lost) was piss poor. It is so bad that I had reservations about coming back in the future. But for now. I can't recommend this to anyone who lives in the city. The quality of service just isn't there. And the price is way too expensive to be coming back again and again. There are better options in the city, in my personal opinion.
And as for their response on Yelp. Would appreciate it if the customer service rep would actually reply sincerely and not have a cookie cutter response to every single review posted about their restaurant. That kind of attention and care from the Service Rep would make a world of difference. Unfortunately for them. They all seem like they need new staff or training of their current one. Because their service from dining experience to customer service just is one of the worst I have experienced. Customer Service is what often makes a good experience. HONEY SALT. YOU CAN DO BETTER....
Read moreWe stayed at the JW Marriott, where this Honey Salt is located in, and had it two times. The first time was great. We had a night cap and some snack food one evening. We had a young male bartender with a French (Quebecois?) accent whose name I did not catch, but he was super friendly and attentive, answered my wife's many questions, and made sure we were good throughout our visit. We had the Korean fried chicken, garlic shrimp, and Brussel sprouts, all of which came out quickly, hot, and delicious. Drinks were well made too. 5 star visit all around.
We then had breakfast made to go so we could enjoy it in the hotel room. I'm not sure if this was the norm or if they were short staffed, but the order could not be brought to the room so we had to go pick it up. No issue, it was ready in the 15 minutes they said it would be. I go down, pick up the food, get back to the room, and we discover they did not pack utensils in the bag. I then go back down to the restaurant to get utensils. By the time I get back up to the room, my wife discovered that they missed the bagel for her smoked salmon board. When she called down, the person who took the order (whom I believe was also the hostess) put her on hold (we're guessing to go to the kitchen) and came back a few minutes later to say there isn't a bagel with the salmon board. My wife politely asked her to read the description on the menu, after which she gets put on hold long enough for it to ring back, and another person said they are working on it. I'm guessing there was more discussion, possibly menu reading and finger pointing, but finally they ask us to come down yet again to get the missing item. I get back up to give my wife her bagel, and I look in my order to discover that they did not provide syrup with my chicken and waffles. Needless to say, I ate it without the syrup. The people I did talk to were apologetic, but I feel like there should have been some compensation without me asking after the second mess up.
In summary, I believe this is probably a good place to eat and drink as long as you do it in the restaurant. Save yourself several trips to the lobby and do not...
Read moreHorribly loud atmosphere with a vapid and superficial crowd. Place is set up to appeal to the Instagram bunch who have no sense of style nor the understanding that other people exist in this shared universe. Made worse since the restaurant is a glorified dining hall with no means to dampen the cynical laughter of the party at the other end of the room. Partner resorted to earplugs, that was how bad it was... in a room without live music.
While the wait staff tried, there was a lot of issues with front house staff and how the restaurant is managed. Waited 20 minutes for water service because it's not communicated who looks after what tables. Should never have to be bypassed for almost half an hour and get up and tell someone that we weren't being looked after. Which continued into other problems, like supply. English Breakfast, a common staple of well, breakfast and brunch, and they didn't have any. Zero. None. Nadda. They order their tea in the TWG display boxes and seem to only restock once the unpopular flavors diminish. Smart... (no). So while I'm waiting 50 minutes now for food, with a headache and no caffeine as company, I had the displeasure of noticing the bench seating. Covered in stains. Just disgusting. The food was fine, but it didn't make up for everything else. I tipped the wait staff highly because I recognize that a lot of the shortcomings are the fault of the management, and forcing a discount that forces them less tip is gross. The "Oh no, how could this happen!" look on their faces once they realized that they had our neglected table was heart wrenching.
This review would have been 1 star if it weren't for the cooks and the servers have to make up for the many, many failings of Honey Salt. It's an overpriced restaurant in an overpriced hotel geared towards younger millennials. There are much better options for breakfast and brunch in the...
