I believe the deep fried wontons were $10 and there were 5 of them. They were overcooked. The green papaya salad was bland. Even with the sauce added. Disappointed.
My son’s favourite soup is pho ga and he got the shredded chicken broth pho. He said it was one of the lower end tasting pho restaurants he’s tried and he’s been to all of them in Nanaimo, probably a dozen in Victoria and Duncan and several in Vancouver.
I always get hot and sour seafood soup at pho restaurants. The seafood was rubbery artificial crab (which is always too fishy tasting in soups), bland chunks of what seem to be cod, fish balls and one shrimp. It was probably the worst hot and sour seafood soup I’ve had anywhere. It was tasteless unless you count the extreme dishonest of the faux crab, there was no sour at all(pineapple usually) and the veggies were overcooked (cauliflower and broccoli mush) or raw (hard carrot).
Both soup sizes were good and the food was still very hot when we picked it up.
My other kids had chicken salad rolls and tofu salad rolls. These seemed to have a good sized portion and they liked them. Maybe this pho restaurant is better at making non-soup items since it has a 4.7 rating and was the highest rated pho near our hotel. The servers were busy with take out orders and kept telling us to sit anywhere. I told them I’m there for pick up and they would say okay and walk away and not give us our order. I finally reached over and found the order with my name and took it. It was just a bit weird that no one asked my name and passed me the order. Maybe it was just an off day for the restaurant, but we will definitely not order from here again when we...
Read more5 stars. I have ordered from here like 4 more times. Hands down the best quality and the best prices! It’s an addiction at this point.
Had the lemon grass chicken pho and taro chips. Wasn’t going to leave a review but while having leftovers today I decided I would! I loved the pho broth, and the chicken was such a nice representation of how amazing lemongrass chicken really is. They nail it. I also found their noodles were very easy to separate (from delivery container) which was a nice surprise and helped the experience. Not all pho joints give you onion, and these guys do, which is a selling point for me! I love trying all the pho restaurants in Vancouver and they are not all created equal. Would really recommend, their current ratings don’t lie. Also the taro chips had such a nice subtle flavor. So light and crispy. Not oily or heavily salted. Really recommend those too if you’re looking for a light crunchy side dish!
UPDATE August 2025 this place remains to be one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver. It’s ALWAYS good and I order 1-2 x per month for myself and partner, and the order is never wrong. They have never forgotten a mod or add on or pop or missed the peanut sate request. They always package everything so nicely and in ways that make sense. The affordable prices paired with quality AND quantity is a precious gem. I love u pho mimosa please...
Read moreSlightly disappointed given the high ratings for this place.
The food (beef rib pho and lemongrass chicken pho) was decent. The broth was tasty, and the beef rib pieces were large, although not the most flavourful. Not bad prices as well ($15 for most pho dishes).
Service was ok, but basic: received water, took order, received food, then we had to go up to the till to pay. The tables weren't wiped before we sat down or as we were leaving - our table was kinda dirty with small bits of food on there.
The atmosphere suffers somewhat from its location on Granville St, which isn't the nicest. On the inside, it's quite cold looking. A wide mix of music is played from pop to heavy dance music. TVs play random programmes. It all leads to a confused and cold ambience.
The poor atmosphere, combined with the basic service and dirty table means I probably wouldn't come back, even though the food was...
