Yum!! A nice, mainly self-serve bakery/lunch spot that strongly reminds me of the bakeries in East Asia, with both sweet and savoury pastries priced reasonably considering itās in Downtown Vancouver! The bakery is kept clean and tidy, with the left side displaying all the grab and go options, and the right side offering seating- everything looks great and is organized very well. You just grab a tray, put on a wax sheet, take a pair of tongs, and just freely choose what youād like. Then when youāre done, you take it to the counter and pay! Love the simple process :) For savoury options, you can request for it to be toasted/heated up too!!
It does pick up at some times especially around 12:30, so if you want to quickly catch a table for dine-in, maybe come in earlier or later! So far, Iāve only visited once, but I will definitely return when I can to try out more of their selection :) Do note that when you download their app and make an account, you get an offer for a free pastry (when you purchase another separate pastry!)
Pastries and most of the selection range from $5-$13 (if I remember correctly), so you can definitely pick and choose 2 pastries and still come out with a total under $20!! I found the pepperoni pizzeta to be delicious, and itās probably my favourite so far- super savoury, pepperoni was flavourful, and the entire pizzeta just worked so well together. The strawberry croissant was tasty too, with sweet strawberries and a nice, flakey croissant :) Additionally, my boyfriend got a slice of the strawberry cake, which was light and fluffy. I got the medium Coffee Frappe for my drink to accompany my meal, and found it quite good for the price- the coffee flavour was strong and came out well! Looking forward to trying out the rest of their menu!
I really enjoyed the experience, and recommend for you to drop by and check it out!! Really hope this bakery stays around, as I find the prices and selection fantastic!!! (As you can...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn the evening, I decided to purchase a cup of drip coffee. Upon examining the initial cup provided, I observed an abundance of coffee grounds floating on the surface. I then alerted the cashier to this matter and requested a replacement. The cashier then prepared a new cup of coffee without properly cleaning the coffee basket.
However, after consuming the second cup, I found a substantial amount of coffee grounds settled at the bottom of the cup again. I went back to the same cashier and pointed out that a drip coffee should not have such an excessive amount of grounds and that proper cleaning of the filter should be done after each brew to avoid this problem.
The female cashier, without issuing an apology, explained to me that the presence of coffee grounds is a common occurrence due to the coffee machine used at Paris Baguette, and that all patrons who order drip coffee at Paris Baguette will encounter this.
She offered me a fresh cup of coffee using the same machine, without cleaning the coffee basket. I respectfully declined her offer.
Seriously, the explanation she offered did not provoke even a chuckle, and regrettably, there was no manager present to address the situation at that moment.
Does this level of quality represent the usual standard of drip coffee that customers can expect at Paris Baguette?
With considerable experience in the coffee industry, I noted that these two employees failed to properly cleanse the coffee basket following each brewing process.
It is crucial to cleanse the basket after each brew instead of engaging in discussions with colleagues. Undoubtedly, these two employees working that evening are in need of further training.
My experience at Paris Baguette is likely to be my first...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIs this the worst bakery I've ever been to? No, probably not. Is this even a French-style bakery? No, not even close. It's Korean style baked goods. However, it does manage to take the crown of worst Korean bakery ever. Ever. It's so bad I wouldn't even it the stuff if someone gave it to me. The mochi donuts were small & greasy and on top of that the oil tasted ... while not quite rancid, probably overdue for replacement. It was just super bad, almost wanted to spit it out. The worst mochi donuts ever had between Vancouver, Japan, USA and Taiwan. The mochi buns are also the absolute worst ever. Maybe dry crusty cardboard or degraded plastic shell would be an apt description. Head to ANY of those K grocery stores and you can get MUCH better Korean style baked goods. The multi-grain bread? OMG. I have never, ever seen an ingredient list this long for a pack of bread. The label said it was made for Paris Baguette by some company in New Jersey. I assume that means New Jersey way over on the east coast of USA. At least the bread tasted ok, but you're really getting super-expensive version of Wonder Bread. (BTW I see no French labelling on the package so I wonder if this is even legit for import into Canada). On top of the lousy product, the stuff is super expensive. Ok, at least it's a nice place to sit and the staff seem decent. Stay FAR FAR AWAY from this place. It's worth neither your time or stomach space or money. I would...
