We solved the Curse of Madame Zita's Curiosities with 6 people and it was a fantastic room! We were actually a little worried at first as we are used to 1hr rooms, but: There were plenty of puzzles to solve in parallel, and unlike some other escape rooms, it actually felt natural. Not like two linear paths side by side. Some puzzle clues are available early on and you have to keep it in mind until later once the related puzzle is actually available. On that note, like the best escape rooms, this room also makes sure puzzle pieces are only used once and then set aside so there's no confusion. The production value is indeed great, I'd give it a 4.5 star in this area because they are limited by being in a rented mall space. For example, doors are clearly doors (rather than secret bookcase doors or wardrobe doors) and there's no tunnels/ladders, etc. Honestly this is the only point that keeps this room from breaking into my Top 3 escape rooms of all time, but the room is still very well decorated (without extraneous junk that is clearly not puzzle related) with high quality looking pieces. And to reiterate, the puzzles are great. All reasonably clued, feels fair, not too easy. The game master mentioned this room has more spatial puzzles compared to their other room which is more logical apparently. Definitely requires communication and I think it's best with 3-6 players. It might be tough to complete within the time limit without prior escape room experience, but it's definitely worth doing at some point. Lastly, we didn't use any hints but we were told that they are unlimited and the system seemed very clear as it would've come through on a monitor screen with sound effects (no fuzzy speakers). The game master was very kind and excited for us, and she seemed equally enthused about talking about the puzzles at the end and let us know that they were all created by the owner. Good secure lockers for our belongings during the game. No interior restrooms, use the ones in the food court.
Overall, very glad people suggested this escape room on Reddit and that we could stop by during our...
Read moreWe have played both rooms here now, and I’m giving it 1 star mainly focusing on the last one we played: The Mystery at the Majestic Theatre. I hate giving any escape room a bad review because I know hard work goes into them all, but I’m just sharing our experience. We have played over 30 escape rooms and only not escaped from about 3 or 4 (this one included). The difference is that the other rooms were still fun in story and puzzles even when we didn’t succeed, this one was not. This is a 45 minute room and I think they chose that to make it “harder” but really they just fill what should be a 60 min room with too many time sucking puzzle that just feel like work. I felt bored and frustrated almost immediately, and only a few of the puzzles felt like they were on theme and fun to get through. There was one puzzle that we got stuck on for like 15 minutes because it was overly complicated, and just time consuming. The GM tried giving us hints, but she just wrote things we already knew and reading them ended up just taking more time and was very unhelpful. The set design was alright, there were some cool elements, but definitely not the most immersive room we have played, but that’s just how most of the Vancouver rooms are. I think it’s bad business design to have the 45 minutes with the kind of puzzles they had, and call it “hard”, when really it’s just filled with frustrating puzzles that don’t really have common sense and take way too long. What is really an escape room red flag is when they have puzzle that can’t be solved with hints if stuck, both the rooms here have these. This room had bad game flow compared to almost all of the other rooms we have done, and for paying over $100 for this experience we left feeling ripped off. A good room shouldn’t make you feel like a failure or stupid and the design of this one does. I don’t recommend this room if you are an enthusiast or looking for a well...
Read moreI've done more escape rooms than I can count, and I can confidently say Find and Seek is one of the best escape rooms, and definitely the best escape room in all of BC.
I've done both their adventures with just one other person. He's smart in the logical sense. I'm smart for having him as a friend. Surprisingly, I still felt like I contributed.
-The props were well made and interactive. No crummy padlocks or scratched off IKEA labels. Everything was built or handmade. -Puzzle flow was impeccable. It was really rewarding to have a success chime go off upon solving something. -Everything was logical. Whenever we got stumped and asked for a hint, we quickly realized that it was normally just something we missed, or an oversight on our end. Nothing felt unfair. -Thank goodness for unlimited hints. After doing the first adventure, we quickly learned it was acceptable to just ask their hint system (known as watchtower), if we were simply on the right track. -Really nice knowing they keep an eye on you and can hear you. If we were on the right track but made a mistake, they'd nudge us without penalizing us. I've been to some rooms where I'd have no indication of where I went wrong... and it sucks to rethink a puzzle when in reality I did it right but I may have simply misread my own handwriting. -Ambience of the rooms was great. I will say their reception lobby reminds me of a dental office, though. -Staff was real friendly. It was nice to talk about the adventure and share our thoughts afterwards.
NOTE: There aren't washrooms, so to others I'd highly suggest going before you go as the washrooms within the mall leave something to be desired...
Parking is also 2 hours free underground.
Will be...
