Library Square Public is located downtown Vancouver, which is two blocks from Rogers Arena and BC Place, and across the street from the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. The location is outside the library, is very easy to find, but it’s hard to park the car.
I have been to Vancouver Public Library a lot, but I have never been to this place since this year my birthday. My fiance had dinner with the meetup group once and he brought me some leftover chicken wings, which was awesome. So, we decided to have my pre-birthday dinner there with friends.
Environment: Since it was Wednesday night (Wings Night), we made a reservation before we came. 6 people for 6pm. We arrived on time. This place was not too busy. Inside the Library is like normal bars. Dark inside, Big screen TV, Calm inside, perfect conditions for me.
Service: since it’s a little bit busy, we had to wait for a while to begin the order. The server is nice and friendly. I don’t think they have many servers working that night. Every time we wanted something, we had to wait for a while.
Food: Because of Wings night, we all ordered Wings special. Actually, this place had horrible Wings selection. There are only three flavors for Chicken Wings: Salt peppers, Sweet Chili and Hot. If you don’t like spicy, your only option is Salt Peppers. We ordered all three to share. The chicken wings came out of the kitchen for a while, but they are well cooked, well seasoning and fresh hot. The most important thing is they are all very big, bigger than many other pubs or bars downtown Vancouver, which is awesome. After ate the first round chicken wings, my friends decided to order some french fries. We ordered regular fries and jalapeno cheese fries. The taste of fries is awesome, especially the jalapeno cheese fries.
Prices: Even though it’s wings special, this place still charge Chicken wings like $6 or $7. The fries are the same. It’s very pricy. The taste was great. It’s more important.
In summary, it’s not bad. We enjoyed our wings night at Library Square....
Read moreFirst time there with a group of friends, and it seemed alright based on the atmosphere and vibe. I had asked our server, who was friendly, which food in the menu she would recommend to us as the menu was quite overwhelming. She had recommended me the Cajun chicken burger so I ordered that with a side of the flatbread pizza. The flatbread came first, which was decent enough, and soon after the Cajun chicken burger came. My boyfriend and I were splitting the food, so he sliced the burger in half, only to realize the chicken was raw. At this point, I had taken a bite of the burger as I was hungry. We asked all of our friends at the table to confirm if it was raw or not as we weren’t completely sure due to the fact that the pub lights were extremely dim and dark. We complained to our server, who then apologized and told us that the kitchen would make a new burger for us. 10 minutes later, the new burger came out, and it had already been sliced in half, as if it was the same burger that we had initially received. We looked at the chicken again to make sure it was cooked this time, and sure enough, it was identical to the first burger. We complained again, and this time we were a bit frustrated at the lack of care the kitchen had on the food that they were serving to the customers. We wanted our portion of the bill covered, as it was unacceptable to receive not one, but TWO RAW burgers. They didn’t want to cover the whole thing, but we fought for it as this was not okay. As someone who has had food poisoning from raw chicken, this is very serious issue and should be dealt correctly. Eventually the manager came along, and she told us that our bills were covered but never apologized and stormed off once she finished what she had to say. For someone who is the manager, we expect more sincerity towards the customer base. I understand that these things happen, but how the manager dealt with it was rude and frankly unacceptable, so we will not be returning back...

As a huge fan of their Friday 90's Night, please note this is only a review of my experience at the bar.
After trying a Jolly Rancher for the first time in Vegas last weekend I thought to try it at Library Square. Upon asking for two, one for me and one for my best friend, the bartender poured us two shots of Sour Puss. I told him that I was sure it was a mixed drink. He looked confused and turned to his manager. His manager said it was just two shots of Sour Puss in a martini glass. Hence that was what the bartender gave me and changed us $14 each. Although my fault for paying up, I took a sip, thought it was disgusting and felt very upset. Upon googling the Jolly Rancher, it was obviously a mixed drink with some combination of vodka, shnapps, liqueur, and cranberry juice. Upon showing this to the manager he said he could make it for me but it would cost $16: "it does not matter what is on google, here it is Sour Puss". I told him that I wanted him to make me the drink that I had asked for because what he gave me wasn't it. After arguing with him for a long while with no suitable ending in sight, I walked away.
What upset me was their lack of acknowledgement if they did not know how to make something. Furthermore, the true cost to them would not be more than $2, instead they have a very upset customer who has chosen to stay up to write this review.
I have not yet decided if I am coming back to my beloved 90's night, but one thing is for sure, their bar is not getting another...
