I had a very unpleasant experience at this café. I stayed for about two hours and finished my drink, which was in a takeaway cup. On my way to the restroom, I threw away the empty cup. When I asked for the restroom key, the staff gave it to me and said, “This is for customers only.” I responded, “what?? I am a customer.”
After using the restroom and coming out, the same staff member came up to me and asked what I had ordered. I said “an iced Americano,” and she told me that her coworker said I hadn’t ordered anything. I told her I had, and even pointed to the empty cup I had just thrown away.
At that point, I offered politely, “Would you like to check the receipt if you’re not sure?” But instead of accepting or even politely declining, she gave me a dismissive look and said, “It’s fine,” in a tone that made it seem like she was doing me a favor. Her facial expression was cold and unpleasant the whole time.
At the very least, if you’re going to approach someone who just came out of the restroom with suspicion, you should know how to say something like, ‘We get a lot of non-customers coming in thank you for confirming,’ or ‘Sorry for double-checking.’ That’s just basic courtesy.
But she never apologized for suspecting me, and continued treating me like I had done something wrong. I told her, “You’re being really rude,” and she answered, “What’s rude about that?” I said, “You just accused me of not ordering anything. That’s incredibly disrespectful.” She tried to brush it off by saying she was just double-checking—but in fact, she had checked three times.
She then ignored me and went back to serving other customers as if nothing had happened.
The person who took my order was actually very kind. The contrast between them was like night and day
This kind of attitude is unacceptable. She treated a paying customer like a liar, made assumptions without verifying facts, and refused to acknowledge or apologize for her mistake. Her attitude was unprofessional, unkind, and extremely disrespectful.
I do not recommend this place if you expect to be treated with even basic courtesy.
To that staff member: I’ve been to this café many times, and I’ll continue to come. You’ll remember me. Instead of doubting a legitimate customer, you should blame your own eyes for not noticing someone who had been sitting there...
Read moreI really like Trees! I've been to a few of the other locations and now am working near this one so it looks like this might become my new regular location. The staff is really polite and there's a good atmosphere inside. There's an area with comfortable armchairs in the back, and little booths tucked into the wall, plus regular tables and counter seating out front, and a few patio tables. It's all very clean. It seems popular with both laptop workers and bigger groups/families. So far I've had the spinach feta quiche, key lime cheesecake, vegan blueberry scone, iced chai latte, and iced americano here. I've had slightly mixed experiences with the cheesecake depending on the location, but the key lime here was great - it had a nice fluffy texture. Their slices are a good size for me where the portion isn't excessive but big enough that I'm not left wanting more. The quiche was also really good, but I would advise to only order it if you really like feta because the feta tang was very prominent (I liked it, but it's a strong and maybe particular taste). Americano and chai were both great, the americano had a good crema on top and the chai wasn't too sweet. The chai wasn't really spicy like an authentic Indian chai but it was still made well - brewed strong and lightly aromatic. The blueberry scone was okay - it had an interesting texture that was almost like a soft-baked cookie (not as sweet though) but was made with dried blueberries and would have been so much better if they had used fresh (or even frozen). This is really the only reason I give 4 stars, it just seems like such a missed opportunity, although it's still worth a try if you want a scone. I will probably be back here on occasion as I really like all of their food and the prices are pretty reasonable for...
Read moreUnbelievably Rude Service – Avoid This Place I can honestly say I’ve never been more appalled by customer service than I was at Trees. My partner and I went in to grab a quick drink, and when I politely asked to use the restroom, the staff member snapped at me with, "Usually, we don’t let people use the restroom."
The tone was beyond rude, and it was said in such an dismissive way that it felt completely disrespectful. It’s already baffling that a café would refuse service to paying customers who simply need to use the bathroom, but to make it worse, she acted like I was asking for something outrageous. As if that wasn’t enough, she then casually said, “But it’s ok, this time you can use it.” The switch in tone felt insincere and made it clear that I was being "allowed" to use the restroom out of some weird charity.
After this incredibly unpleasant interaction, I declined the offer to use the restroom. It wasn’t about needing it anymore, but about how she treated us. I’m not going to support a business where I’m treated like that.
We got our drink, which were fine, but the whole experience left a bad taste. After that encounter, there’s no chance I’ll be coming back here. There are so many other cafes that actually know how to treat their customers with basic respect, which is exactly what this place lacks.
If you value decent service, stay far away from Trees. I will be telling everyone I know about how appallingly we...
