We had lunch at La Tasca de Altamar on July 19th. We walked across the street from our AirBnB apartment, so we did not have to join the parking wars. Parking is on the street only and is severely limited as there are several restaurants within a stone's throw. The entryway at the street has a ramshackle appearance, but do not let that put you off. The building itself is modern and clean, with lots of metal and wood showing. We ordered a calamari fritti appetizer which arrived with a couple of blue plates. The blue plate placed in front of me was dirty, disgustingly dirty. It had obviously been used but never washed. The waitress changed out the plate immediately upon request. The calamari was luke warm at best, slightly chewy, and the batter had lost much of its crispness. The calamari flavour was generally good, with an overriding lemony tang. My wife ordered the congrio frito and received a nice big cross section of fish, thinly battered and fried to a perfect golden tan. The congrio was hot, flaky, tender, and very flavourful, with the tastes of the congrio itself front and center. There were some rib bones at the ends of the C shaped filet of congrio, which my wife did not want, but I crunched with great pleasure. I ordered the calamar en su tinta. One to 1.5 inch baby squid, stuffed and cooked in its own ink, served with a mound of white rice. The calamari was perfectly cooked, and the stuffing was fully cooked. The stuffing appeared to be a seafood melange. The black ink sauce was absolutely delicious, inducing me to eat waay more of the rice with it than was good for my blood sugar level. We had glasess of house aspumanti with dinner, making for a most pleasurable dining experience!
La Tasca de Mar - highly recommended! We will return to sample more...
Read moreThe food was delicious. Great variety of beers and dishes(wines too but I didn't drink any) We took the Deep-fried Squid n' calamari with tartar sauce as starter, two different types of ceviche as main dish and sea Urchin to fill up the remaining space in our bellys(our favourite, good quantity good price about 17usd 日本人にオススメ!). The delivery of the dishes was within 15 mins which is great. The only thing to point ourt was serving person, who took time to come to our table to ask us if we wanted more beer or if everything was okay every time we finished one, just a little detail.
Two people: 8 bottles of beer + the described above 75.000 CLP Over all...
