Went here for a lunch buffet. It costs an exorbitant 218 MOP after taxes! They had a few items for appetizers. Homemade yogurt was the one that stood out because they serve it in small kulhads (clay containers). The yogurt itself was a little sweet. Rest of the appetizers were alright. They had very limited vegetarian options for main course - dal and 2 curries plus okra rice (!?) and plain white rice. Dal was good but the curries were below par. There were 10 different types of desserts, most of them pastries, along with kheer and gulab jamun. Pastries were passable, the kheer was pretty good and the gulab jamun was hard as a rock!
They include a free tea or coffee with the buffet. A couple of members in our group do not drink either tea or coffee. We asked if they could substitute it for lassi or buttermilk and the manager flat out refused. He said the best he could do was iced tea. I reminded him that they do not drink tea and he said he couldn’t do anything. If you're charging so much money, I'd expect you to do a little extra. For the rest of us who ordered tea, we got black tea (English breakfast is my guess) with milk and sugar separately. For an Indian place, you would expect proper masala chai. Hugely disappointing!
Overall, the quality of food was unimpressive. I had a buffet Hong Kong for half the price and more variety with much better quality. This felt like a ripoff! I was shocked that this place is Michelin rated. Mediocre food with average service and outrageous prices! I...
Read moreWe went there knowing that they have a vegan menu and hoped that the vegetarian options could be made vegan by switching out the dairy with plant alternatives.
Unfortunately none of the normal dishes can be made vegan, so we went for the vegan menu which had around 6 dishes including appetizer and dessert. However, we were sure that at least one of the dishes had dairy in it. My girlfriend had extreme diarrhea right after the meal (we are both lactose intolerant so dairy gives us stomach issues), and I also had the acid reflux with a dairy aftertaste that I only get when I ate dairy before I went vegan. So we were sure the chef did not make sure our dishes were served vegan, despite the fact we ordered from the vegan menu that was very limited in options, and told the waiter that we were both vegan.
Very disappointed given this was a michelin one star. The taste was good, though the lack of respect of our dietary needs despite being known to having a vegan menu was not acceptable.
Though I must say if you are not vegan , the food is good. It's just that it seems the people there don't appreciate the importance of not using animal products in vegans' food. I hope that improves and it would be wonderful if the normal dishes can be made vegan.
For vegans, if you do go, make sure you make it extra clear and you cannot eat any forms of...
Read moreMe and my husband went in with high expectations however short lived. We ordered and they repeated which it was correct the starter was ok not massive explosions of flavour in our mouth. My husbands main came and the man bread I waited for mine thinking it may have taken longer to cook. However the waitress had forgotten to put the order through. I was not happy by the time my husband almost finished it the waitress just about came to apologise. I had to call the manager over when the food finally arrived the took back my nan which I started to eat and then realised what happened and they re heated it and sent it back to me. I was not having it. As a manager he should have done more even before I had to ask well what are you going to do about it. He should know. I told him he ruined the meal and then finally deducted my meal but isn't it the managers responsibility to take responsibility . Had better service where it's...
