Second time getting takeout here. Both times the chicken was tough and chewy.
Last time I had their poached and deep fried chicken rice, all food items were bad - poached chicken was tough, deep fried chicken was cold and soggy, the rice was very wet and mushy, and the chicken soup was so peppery that my throat felt like burning.
This time I had tom yum soup chicken noodles, the chicken smelled like it's gone bad. It's lunch time with many people dining in and waiting for takeouts, so no way the chicken deteriorated from a slow day. Possibly the chicken was not freshly made today, plus something went wrong when they stored them overnight, such as temperature etc.
The tom yum soup lacked flavour, not enough kick. The noodles were probably cooked and placed in the container for a prolonged period so it went back into one big chuck and was hard to separate.
Last time I had Thai coffee which was good, but this time I tried Thai milk tea, which is notorious for being overly sweet elsewhere, was not sweet at all at this place. They probably forgot to put the sugar syrup so it just had the bitter tea aftertaste. Also the milk tea had a slightly sour taste so it has probably gone bad.
This place took in more orders than it can handle, the time they quoted for pickup was for reference only, I had to wait for an extra 30 minutes.
The cashier was very unfriendly, she didn't like people poking in to look at the rack they put takeouts on. She just asked for the order number and just said no without looking for it. There's a poor foreigner waiting there who seemed to not speak any Chinese, waiting for his order but they only shouted order...
Read moreVisited this Thai resto in Causeway Bay with my colleagues for dinner after having ice cream. . I ordered the Khao Mun Gai Poached Chicken with Rice (HKD56). The chicken was flavourful, esp after dipping it in their specially-made sauce. Its smooth texture and bonelessness made it more enjoyable. Their oil rice was really savoury and aromatic, and the cucumbers helped reduce some greasiness.
One of them ordered Khao Mun Gai Poached & Deep Fried Chicken with Chicken Rice (HKD58). The deep fried chicken had a truly crispy skin with a tender interior.
Another ordered Stir-fried Basil & Pork with Rice (HKD64). The dish looked attractive with a fried sunny-side-up egg with a runny yolk on top. . The resto is slightly crowded and we had to wait for a while to get in. The price of the food is generally economical, considering that it is located in...

This store is relatively new and at a secluded part of Causeway Bay so harder to find. It’s just beside Top Blade Steak Lab!
Food is pretty decent at a very good value. The side dishes are always freshly cooked (eg grilled squid, fried pork, grilled pork jowl) so would recommend them all. Especially the grilled squid - you can even taste and smell the BBQ.
The new beef tongue rice however was disappointing. It was tough and lacked flavour. Would recommend the original basil pork dish instead.
Also not a huge fan of their noodle soup as those are more diluted and mild.
Overall will still be back just stick with their...
