I'd seriously recommend booking this place for birthday celebrations in big groups, because they have huge tables and incredible Chinese cuisines to serve. Our birthday star was stunned by her "cake" this year, with a very aromatic baked caramelised top; custardy sago pudding in the middle; and sweet lotus paste at the bottom. The three layers perfectly melted into each other, and you could easily spoon this cake to savor.

We got each of us a serving of the signature soup stewed in purple clay teapots, just poured the golden liquid out into the tea cup when you are ready to drink. It's the very rare moment that I enjoy soup in such a delicate and delicious way. There were dried conch, chicken feet, dried scallop, lean pork, yam, and wolfberries boiled in this soup- an absolute elixir to cure my body & soul.

A proper Chinese feast should never miss any of these: Peking duck is a must-order, fried whole crispy chicken (on superb discount at occasions, please keep a keen eye!), giant prawn toasts that were extremely crispy and delightful, very well-seasoned fish paste-shaped fish that came in a tasty Chinese demi glace made of black beans & sun-dried mandarin peels, Chinese liver pate & preserved salted meat sandwich (a tribute to the traditional Money Chicken rolls), and a pot of assorted vegetables cooked with fragrant dried prawns, squid legs, mushrooms...

Food was good but the service was diabolical. My partner and I went there to get a quick breakfast. From the moment we walked in the door, the staff were rude and unhelpful. Fung Shing was recommended to us as having really good food. Understandably, there was a language barrier but we have been to plenty of places in Hong Kong to eat were this was the case but the staff were respectful. We were both made to feel very uncomfortable. I would recommend Fung Shing to anyone who can speak Cantonese. The congee was particularly good..... Update, many years down the line (2023, the original encounter was about 2016), I still think back on this interaction as the most uncomfortable, unfriendly dining experience I have ever had. I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to have travelled extensively and I still think back on this as the #1 worst interaction abroad I...

We visited this restaurant years before so we decided to go back and try their sago pudding that we used to love so much.

To our surprise, not only the food was only average, they burnt the sago pudding so they didn't even wait for us to take photos of it before distributing it in bowls to our table.

They had a fancy sweet and sour pork where they serve the sauce separately and the meat was presented in a batter but the sauce didn't stick so we ended up feeling odd and not sure what to make of the dish. We also ordered a previous favourite - deep fried milk, but the batter was too thick. The stir fried vegetables was also very oily.

All in all a very...

A famous old style Chinese restaurant with two stories. The ceiling was very low on the upper floor. The environment was quite noisy. Only a stairway was used for connection. The space in the toilets was very small. Other things alright and number of servicing staff was adequate. Traditional cuisine and dim sum were good. Baked sago custard and Shunde dishes were famous. Waiteress was active in helping the photo-taking. The wall on the ground floor blocked the sight of the waitress and affected the service.
