This Vietnamese restaurant have good food, and the decor is quite quaint and cozy.. it have a welcoming feel to the place,, but the service is truly terrible to say the least.
My friend and I sat down and we ordered drinks after about a 15 minute wait, and then the individual that took our drink orders did not remembered we had ordered the drinks.
We have to signal the waiter over at twice for whatever we needed, nevermind wanted. We sat at a table that had a picture window of sorts with a metal grill instead of glass. It was an opening in the wall between dining areas, and the staff kept peeking through the grill for whatever reason. Very rude, ill manner, impolite and very very unprofessional.
Every time a staff member peeks through the window, it was very disturbing and quite frightening because we did not expect it everyrime someone did it. We think it was to see if the guest have finished with the previous course yet, terrible.
The highlight of the restaurant was this robot caddy that moves around, also in front of this window. What Au Nam should do is put cameras on the robot caddy and have it patrol the dining area to see what all the staff is peeking for.
Everything have to be asked twice before we got it, and we even had to grab a few people's attention in order to get service.
Btw, the food is quite good, but the poor service took all the enjoyment out of the meal.
In order to get to the good food, one have to put up with a bit. For me, I would rather eat...

Ordered shrimp rice paper roll dish and vegetable dish, neither of which states it contains peanuts in the menu.
The shrimp rice paper roll dish arrives with peanuts embedded. Asked waitress to change due to peanut allergy. Waitress was very defensive and asserted that I should be the one to inform them of the peanut allergy before ordering and insisted it was not the restaurant's fault (not something the first line of customer service should assert). I pointed to the menu, no mention of peanuts. The waitress backed off her argument and agreed to change the shrimp rice roll to without peanuts.
Second waiter comes by quickly and said that the vegetable dish may contain peanut sauce and offered to change it to a garlic based version. Then he briefly mentions again we should inform them of peanut allergy before ordering. Again, told him there was no mention of peanuts in the menu.
The new dishes arrived. I was about to think... Fine, they changed the dishes so I will add a star back to the rating. Then comes a manager who lectures us that we should inform all restaurants of peanut allergy before ordering. Rather than giving the manager a lesson in tort, I said I would not have anticipated there would be peanuts if the menu does not mention it at all.
No apologies was given by the manager or any staff. A mediocre...

On Oct 29, our group of 10 including a 6 month old baby and two year old toddler were placed in a section of the restaurant that was next to a private room. In this room, the restaurant permitted their guests to smoke indoors, creating an unbearable smell of second hand smoke in our room. When we confronted the staff, they repeatedly said nobody was smoking. We eventually saw lit cigarettes when one of the staff left the door ajar. Even then the waiters all acted either ignorant or remained defensive. Eventually a manager named Bong finally admitted to guests smoking and apologised for placing our young children next to smokers after a long confrontation.
