Always saw ppl recommend the tiramisu from this cafe, so my friend and I decided to give it a try. . We ordered 2nd Best Carbonara and Tiramisu to share.
The 2nd Best Carbonara: Topped with a bright orange colour runny Japanese egg yolk, the carbonara was incredibly rich with parmesan cheese. The linguine had an al dente texture, and the pancetta was mixed nicely with the sauce.
Tiramisu: The ladyfingers were soaked to a moist texture and paired well with the mascarpone cheese. It had a strong coffee aroma and leanded towards the creamy side. . The cafe was quite popular, so there was a time limit for each group of customers (1 hour). We had waited a while for our carbonara to be served. The price of the food was on the higher side. . The last time I visited , their Matcha Cheesecake was outstanding as well, so I...
Read moreReally good food with acceptable service. Got their matcha latte and pistachio Banoffee cake which was recommended by the server. Firstly, matcha latte is great balance between milk and water and the matcha flavor is strong and not grassy. Could use more milk but otherwise great.
The pistachio Banoffee blew my mind. Cream is spiked with banana flavor so can be eaten on its own. the crunchy pistachio and knafeh crust is crunchy and addictive with the silky smooth banana cream. Covered (a bit too generously) with cocoa powder for some bitterness and to prevent the cream from melting/sticking. Great afternoon tea.
Only downside is environment. Not the best quiet place to study as it gets crowded and they limit your time to 1 hour which is not appreciated. Bad for quiet alone time but good for eating and...
Read moreReopening of coffeeology in Causeway Bay with the same menu, vibe and perhaps same staff as well. It is now renamed as caflex by coffeeology. Tiramisu is one of their signature dessert. The proportion is perfectly balanced. Lady fingers are well-soaked with coffee syrup. The mascarpone cheese batter is pretty stiff and milky. I prefer it to be more cheesy and creamy. Personally, I think it is modified to fit the taste buds of Hong Kong people. Sourdough is terrible. It is huge but it is super duper dry. The thyme herb butter is pretty nice though. Latte is fairly ok, using nutty blend with a bitter aftertaste. By the way, you can’t change seat after ordering and there is a time limit of 90 minutes. Probably may revisit for their matcha/hojicha cheesecake depending on their seasonal...
