Edit in response to owner's comment: My wrap didn't come with any tomato/cucumber - it was just cabbage. The quality (and not quantity) of the pickles was not good either. Anyways, this does not make up for the lack of items inside the wrap. And yes, it is expensive - even for HK. If you'd like - I can point out many outlets which offer better food with better quality and quantity... at better prices - both near your outlet as well as on the Island. You're welcome to check my recent reviews too.
I got a falafel pita wrap for takeaway.
First off, the pita bread itself and the falafel were very nice as well as authentic. Why then, you may ask, did I not rate it 5-star?
Well, because the rest of it was extremely disappointing - the pickles (1-2 only) were not good, they just stuffed some cabbage inside the pita i.e. no variety in the stuffings, and above all - it was too damn expensive and small in quantity. The tahini and spicy dips provided on the side weren't authentic or particularly good.
A $88 pita wrap later and I'm still hungry. I might consider going to them occasionally....if they offered it for 60% less.
As it stands, there are numerous places around TST where better food can be had for cheaper. Heck, you can get a full-vegetarian buffet at around the same price during lunch/tea at a number of places nearby!
Unfortunately, I will...
Read moreAfter my trip to tel aviv I am back to HK and looking for something local because I am OBSESSED with the tel aviv pita street food. I have tried a lamb kebab pita there and it is my thought:
I have tried over 10 pita kebab restaurant in Israel and I would rank this number 4 if it is in tel aviv. Reasons:
Clean and chill environment Provide tahini and amba sauce on the side so you can add accordingly Staff are friendly(i am not in peak hours tho) Lamb kabab is very juicy and tendered
The thing that can be improved:
Dont cut off the bottom part of the pita because it make a mess as the sauce flow out
Add fried onion and fried tomato AS WELL
The sauce in the bottle is cold and it makes the food cooler
Include more meat varieties to the pita bread menu (e.g chicken thigh/ veal heart.......)
I normally dont write such a long comment but I believe that this restaurant can be better and I wish I can enjoy the isreali street food in Hong Kong and so next time I hope to come back and see your...
Read moreOn Graham Street, in Soho, Falafel TLV is an easy five-minute walk from my place.
I've been there a few times, for dining in and take-outs. And the food hasn't disappointed.
They have a fairly big menu with your usual falafel, hummus and salads. They've also got the not as usual borekas and jachnuns. The jachnun wasn't as great when we tried. It was a bit doughy and didn't taste as great as it did back when I first had it in NYC.
Everything else has been good. I especially love their spicy sauce. So far, I've tried their eggplant sandwich, falafel sandwich, falafel burger, hummus, baba ganoush. And it's been good. Their pita breads are made in-house and have always been served warm.
It's not Mamouns or Taim, but I've made peace with the fact that this is not New York either. It's my go-to place for falafels here in the Kong.
