Hip spot for Mexican (and a few other) dishes. Cash, credit card and probably e-wallet payments accepted. Service is not the best but mostly adequate to the task.
Came here after visiting the spot next door a couple nights earlier. This place is definitely going for the hip vibe, with thumping music at a very noticeable if not painful level. Also there was a large screen TV near the front of the restaurant playing coverage of some sort of barely-there fashion swimwear event featuring mostly nude women. Not necessarily what you want your kids (or spouse) staring at during the meal and definitely unnecessary.
The large bar boasts a deceptively small number of tequila options that seem to be a drop down in both quantity and quality based on other photos posted here. House tequila is Jose Cuervo Gold or Silver Sierra, neither of which I can recommend if you like tequila. They have a spicy cocktail that utilizes a chili-infused tequila, but unfortunately it's the Silver Sierra bottom-shelf stuff and so I had to forego that. But they do have Herradura and some other options to improve your drink. The Paloma upgraded to Herradura silver was nice and very mild. Other drinks are served in some truly unique and memorable glasses to add to the fun.
Chips & salsa are good. Chips are crisp and well-salted (seem to be the same chips offered at the Mexican place next door), and the salsa is rather flavorless. Opted for the combo of chips, salsa, pico de gallo and guacamole. The pico was also bland to the point of being pointless. The guac however had a pleasant spiciness to it that was surprising. Serving size was good.
While I normally eschew enchiladas, I tried their lamb enchiladas. The sauce was delicious - creamy and cheesy with a pepperiness to it (not spicy, more like roasted bell peppers). The enchiladas themselves had a respectable amount of shredded lamb that was extremely juicy (kind of birria style). Not a lot else for filling but what it was was good. I don't personally care for the sweeter meat styles and the lamb definitely had a sweet seasoning to it that was fortunately balanced by the tortilla and the sauce. Melted cheese over all was a nice touch.
Their ceviche was the star of the evening. Choose from white fish, salmon or tuna. The waitress in a rare moment of engagement admitted that most folks opted for the salmon or white fish. I chose white fish, and was not disappointed. Served in a small glass dish nestled over a hollow glass globe of dry ice, with wisps of steam escaping from the edges, it's visually impressive. But the flavor demonstrated it wasn't just a pretty face! Large and plentiful chunks of white fish along with diced onions and cucumbers in a slightly salty citrus broth (cold, of course - ceviche is seafood 'cooked' in citrus juice, not heat cooked). It was truly delicious and memorable both visually and taste-wise. However this large serving came with only two slightly oversized tortilla chips for dipping. I ended up eating most of it with a fork, which I'm not opposed to but I would have preferred the more traditional method of eating it with chips.
Servers seem bored and at times inconvenienced by their customers. Mine was particularly confused when I wanted to to upgrade the tequila in my cocktail, but we got it figured out. Chips and salsa arrived first, then the enchiladas, then the ceviche, and it would have been better if the last two were reversed in order.
Food was fine, ambiance was a little too hip for my tastes but manageable. I'd come back here again unless I found a better option in Hong Kong, which is far from...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at 8Five2 Restobar in Tsim Sha Tsui, and I must say it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The restaurant offers a warm and inviting ambiance, combined with impeccable service and a diverse menu that caters to various culinary preferences. Let me take you through some of the incredible dishes I had the pleasure of trying.
To start off, the Grilled Pork Ribs with Buff were an absolute standout. The tender pork ribs were perfectly grilled to achieve a smoky flavor that was complemented by a delectable and tangy barbecue sauce. The meat was incredibly juicy and fell right off the bone, making every bite a heavenly experience. The accompanying buff sauce added a nice kick of spice, enhancing the overall flavor profile of the dish.
Next up were the Golden Tempura Prawns, and they were nothing short of fantastic. The prawns were beautifully coated in a light and crispy tempura batter, which gave them a satisfying crunch with each bite. The prawns themselves were fresh and succulent, and the accompanying dipping sauce provided a delightful balance of savory and tangy flavors. It was a true delight for seafood lovers.
Moving on to the Lamb Mince Quesadillas, this fusion dish was a delightful surprise. The combination of tender lamb mince, melted cheese, and perfectly toasted tortillas created a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. The lamb was well-seasoned and added a rich and savory element to the dish. Each bite was a delightful explosion of flavors, leaving me craving for more.
Now, let's talk about the cocktails at 8Five2 Restobar. The first one I tried was the Mr Right, a unique concoction featuring black label, caramel, and popcorn. This cocktail was a true indulgence for the senses. The smoothness of the black label whiskey was perfectly balanced by the subtle sweetness of caramel, and the popcorn garnish added a playful touch. It was a sophisticated and memorable drink that left a lasting impression.
The second cocktail, El Macua, was a refreshing and tropical delight. Made with White Rum, Pink Guava Juice, Infused Lime, and Orange Juice, it offered a vibrant burst of flavors. The combination of the rum and guava juice provided a tropical twist, while the lime and orange juice added a refreshing citrusy kick. It was the perfect drink to accompany the flavorful dishes and added a touch of exoticism to the overall dining experience.
Overall, my visit to 8Five2 Restobar in Tsim Sha Tsui was an absolute delight. The restaurant offers a diverse menu with dishes that are thoughtfully crafted and bursting with flavor. The Grilled Pork Ribs with Buff, Golden Tempura Prawns, and Lamb Mince Quesadillas were all exceptional choices, showcasing the chef's culinary expertise.
