Green Waffle Diner — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

I just had brunch at Green Waffle Diner and, as always, it lived up to expectation.

Background I have been taking my family to the diner for about 14 years, we started going right after it opened in the old Graham Street location. We always loved the atmosphere of the old location which was quite small and cozy, but very friendly. The owner recognized that young kids need entertainment and always had pictures and crayons ready for coloring. We moved out of HK last year, but I visited with my son as he had wanted to see his old friends in HK.

This time I ordered the Big Meat Lover's Skillet (I always order the skillets, they are so unique to this place). It was just as good as I remembered. Nicely prepared with a certain degree of quality.

My son ordered the Pandan waffle (the namesake of the Diner... the famous "green" waffle) and a regular waffle. He said, as always, the Pandan waffle better than a regular waffle. In fact, it reminds me that it often was the case that the Pandan would be sold out later in the day on Sundays, as it is generally preferred by customers. Not sure if that is the case anymore.

I also ordered the fresh orange juice which is squeezed on premise, great as always.

Service: The servers are friendly and generally fast as well. good.

Atmosphere: The newer location in Lyndhurst Terrace is clean and bright, and honestly, I think most people would prefer this location to the old one. For my part, I think it has good atmosphere, but just have the nostalgia for the old smaller and more cramped location on Graham Street :)

another good place to hang out with friends with amazing food!! this restaurant is located somewhere close to the escalator. took a bit of time to get here from mtr station but it totally worths it! better book a seat in advance if you are going during peak hours AKA 12-2pm. 4 of us had 5 lunch sets as we were pretty hungry today. each set is pretty big in portion as it comes with appetizer, main, dessert, drinks, while it costs around $70-80 only!! we had a pasta with mushrooms and smoked salmon, 2 egg benedict with roasted potatoes, 2 chicken quesadillas with roasted potatoes. the first thing that amazed me was definitely the sweet potatoes!! they were sliced into small cubes with a crispy coat but soft inside. I’m quite surprised that instead of normal potatoes they used sweet potatoes which contained more dietary fibers making the entire dish extra healthy. egg benedicts were fabulous. it got a crispy bun topped with a half-boiled egg. i like the fluidity of the egg yolk which leaked like lava once we cut it open. chicken quesdaillas got a really good sauce. not quite sure about the full ingredients but i can tell there were sour cream and pesto. chicken was grilled to a delightful flavour. pasta was very creamy with countless mushrooms and salmon. last but not the least, waffle was hot and crispy. not too sweet. you can drizzle any sauce you want if you prefer more sweetness. waiters were unexceptionally helpful and enthusiastic. since it was my friend's birthday, we secretly asked if the restaurant could serve the waffle with a candle. it turned out to be a big surprise to my friend and she appreciated it very much. all in all, it was a really nice dining experience and we would...
