Kometaki (IFC) — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

The first time I tried to dine here I was told last order is passed and I was not allowed to get in (it was about 8:15pm-ish on working day when I just got out of office and was very hungry…I was kind of shocked especially in an international city like HK and also it’s IFC the heart business zone …it’s not a small town in Wisconsin where people go home 6pm …) .

The 2nd time I was here about 5pm on Saturday after I did some shopping in IFC. I chose the pork special menu. The curry sauce was delicately spicy, I had to admit it’s pretty good. Japanese rice was 七星梦美人米 but I felt rice quality just okay (at home I eat 越光米 from 新泻南鱼沼市, more chewy, but of course more expensive). The size of the food is quite large I could not finish all, so if you are a big man who can eat a lot then this is probably your place.

Considering the cheap price of food, good ambiance (newly renovated), convenient location (IFC mall, heart of CBD in HK), I would give it a recommendation. However, don’t expect too much about the service...

Rice is UNDERCOOKed Steak is overcooked and under seasoned Oxtonge was actually tender (thaz y I gave it 2 stars, could have been one)

I REALLY would not recommend this place, I didn't expect much before I came after reading the review yet this place still managed to surprise me in an extremely unpleasant way

When one of ur biggest selling point is about the quality of rice and yet u served us undercooked rice. They exchanged it for us, but then the normal rice is a bit mushy.......

Service is very mediocre too, to be fair, they r not rude, just that there is barely any service... there is clearly not much management.....

..... this restaurant feels like a pet project for someone who has never run a ...

Catstallin provided here! Sharing our experience, the two pets are just passing by and saw this Japanese restaurant on the corner of IFC mall, we were surprised! We went inside without any bias and didn't saw the google reviews yet so we dont have any expectation. We ordered two meals and two drinks with some add ons. The staffs are friendly, attentive to our needs and with nice attitude, they even gave suggestions. Ambiance was nice. And for the food, it was all balanced, with fiber, protein, a bit of carbs and the drinks are so nice especially the orange juice! 🥹. Anyway, this restaurant deserves to be visited and even dine regularly because the place, food and staffs make you feel at home. That's all...
