We arrive at 645 pm without reservation on Saturday night... staff said we need to return the table at 8 pm which we were fine with that (it's understandable that they need to maximise turnaround of tables)
We were not a full party as another friend was nearby otw..initially they didn't want to allow us to sit unless we were a complete party of 3 but it was raining outside and I made a fuss hence they allowed us to sit. (despite the place being only 70% full at that time)
We sat down at 648pm and look at the menu...our friend arrived at 650pm and we just briefly chatted less than 1 min... male supervisor rudely interrupted and reminded us that we need to order immediately because they need the table back at 8 pm.
That's fine so we ask the female staff to take our order....we were going to order the BBQ combination platter which the staff said that it would take 30-45min to cook... she went back to ask her supervisor if we were allowed to order that as we need to return table at 8 pm.
Staff came back to let us know that we can order the BBQ combo platter BUT if the party of 4 arrives at 8 pm, we need to pack our leftovers as takeaway and return the table IMMEDIATELY! I think this was the last straw for us.... the male supervisor was rude to begin with and this is really not how you treat your customers who it's paying to eat at your restaurant.
This treatment left us feeling unwelcome and rushed, and we decided to leave the restaurant. While we understand the need to maximize table turnover, we believe that this should not come at the expense of customer service. We hope the management will take our feedback into consideration and provide better training to their staff in handling such situations. Despite the yummy Thai food, the lack of hospitality was a letdown and we hope to see improvements...
Read moreI visited Hong Kong for 6 days and I ate at some of the very popular restaurants, including some Michelin starred restaurants, and this restaurant was my favourite. The food was out of this world. The ingredient are super fresh. They do not use MSG, all their ingredients are fresh. You can taste subtle flavours of lemongrass, kafir lime leaves, galangal, and all the other fragrant Thai ingredients. The only way that I can describe their food is like Thai food on steroids. We ordered Pad Thai, Tom Yum soup and Green Curry. I can honestly say that this has been THE best Thai food I’ve ever eaten. Oh, do try their mango and sticky rice, it’s so delicious. Thai is my favourite cuisine, I’ve been to Thailand twice, visited 8 different cities and islands in Thailand. I’ve eaten Thai in London, Cape Town, New York and many other places but nothing can compare to the food at Krua Walaiphan. If you get the opportunity to try their food, you won’t be disappointed. The service is exceptionally friendly and Renee is such a lovely Person. We even got to meet the chef. Well worth...
Read moreEarly 2022: The best Thai food restaurant! No exaggeration! I ordered it last night, my girlfriend ordered today for colleagues, and we ordered again tonight. Over the past few years, we’ve been eating there many times, and frankly speaking we have not encountered anything that do not taste good. Besides the fantastic taste of the grills, rice, noodles, fish, the dessert and side dish, the portions are big, and the price is so worth it. Sometimes we cannot finish the dinner and I take the rest to work on the next day. Just have to come here to leave a good review cause it’s just soooooooo damn good!
(Oh just one thing, the lighting for dine-in is a bit too dark for me. At some seats it’s difficult to take a clear photo of the food.)
Update in Jul 2022: in the past two months, I’ve ordered takeout a few times of the same dishes I had before, the quality has declined. Not sure if changed chef or what, but not as...
