I used to work in Sai Ying Pun and often dined at Pizzeria Italia. Today I revisited the restaurant for some classic Italian treats to celebrate Christmas with my mom and ordered an exquisite dinner set for 2 to share.
Mix Antipasti A vibrant platter with cold and hot starters, from bruschetta, smoked salmon, calamari to chicken croquette. A symphony of tastes to begin the meal with.
Italia Quality handmade pizza. Genuine taste of Italy. Unique flavors that set apart from other types of pizza. Thin and moist dough with a crispy crust, topped with melting cheese, bell pepper slices and salami which harmonized with one another.
Linguine w/ Mix Seafood in White Wine Sauce Al dente pasta in an aromatic white wine sauce. Perfectly seasoned and loaded with seafood including shrimps, squid, salmon and clams.
Tiramisu Italian staple. Fluffy and creamy with an indulgent layer of sponge cake soaking up fragrant coffee. Didn't expect such a generous portion!
For those who don't go for a booze, their fresh lemonade is a must-try - slightly sweet, tart and refreshing. Lime soda - another bubbly choice that won't disappoint anyone.

High CP homemade pizza at Pizzeria Italia. Good choice of toppings. The dough is authentic - thin crust, crispy on the side and chewy in the middle. One glass of wine or sangria is only $35...
Read moreWe sat down before 5pm and started with some drinks.
Later we ordered two tapas. The chicken croquettes were over cooked and quite tasteless. The garlic prawns were ok.
We ordered the second round of drinks to go with the tapas, and had a third round afterwards.
When the server came to clear the table, I asked for the menu again. We were given shitface, probably coz they wanted us to leave already.
Since we were hungry again we order the ‘ slow cooked ribs’.
We expected ribs that were juicy and tender, but they turned out to be dry and tough. We had already taken the ribs apart, but couldn’t finish and spat the dry meat out onto our small plate. We asked to have the dish taken away.
When we asked for the bill, we were charged for the ribs. The manager said if we were not happy, we had to return the dish after the first bite. Otherwise we would still be charged despite our dissatisfaction.
We paid and left.
So heads up, don’t expect the slow cooked ribs to be juicy and tender, coz obviously they weren’t really slow cooked, or someone subsequently did something to the ribs to make the meat tough and...
Read moreCozy little spot for some Italian favorites. Although their name is Pizzeria Italia, I find that their pastas outshine their pizzas. While the pizza does come out hot, fresh and flavorful, I thought the crust was a bit lackluster. I wish it was a bit crispier and not as wet in the center; but the dough did have a good spring and taste when it wasn't the center of the pizza. We had the bolognese and the arabiatta and both were cooked to perfection. The pasta wasn't overcooked, and the respective sauces packed so much flavor with each bite. Another thing to compliment them on is their fried calamari, they were fried flawlessly with a crispy batter and tender calamari. My only gripe was the sauce that came with the calamari; at least where I'm from, fried calamari always comes with a tomato based sauce akin to marinara sauce, but they opted for a truffle-mayo type of sauce and I wasn't really feeling that. Overall, a great experience with great food; I'll...
